Hello, Im new here.

Hello everyone

First of all, sorry if my english isn’t good, its my second language and i sometimes find it difficult finding the right words or spelling.

I have been on a dutch forum for a while but because they shut it down i havent been on any other forum lately.

I missed it and now i like to start in here, like making new friends, finding answers to problems and if i can help you with your questions in life.

Who am i?
I’m Nick, 32 years old and I’m from The Netherlands. I work partime as a operator in a packaging-company, where i enjoy working very much.
In my ‘free time’ i like to walk in the forest, going for a ride on my bycicle and what i do like most is my metaldetecting hobby.
Im a relaxed guy in general. And i try to live life as best as i can, even with all the things that go wrong and my clumsy way of acting.

A short Nick-History:
I’ve been diagnosed: Adhd when i was 5 or 6 years old, cause of all my ‘anger/coping’ problems and being different then my sibblings/ other kids.
After 20 years of other wrong diagnoses/therapy, many depressions and burn outs i got in therapy and after a good screeening from ASD specialists, I’ve been diagnosed Pdd-nos in 2016.
These specialist also told me and my parents in 2016 that they were baffeled about all the wrong diagnoses the other specialist have made in the past. Cause all of this had serious impact on my life, self-esteem, depressions, burnouts and so on.

Now it is 6 years later, and i still struggle with my life. Especially with work and with socializing, and i think lots of ASD’s have these problems.
So i hope to find answers here.

thankyou for reading this.
Best regards, Nick

ps: if someone wants to know more about me, contact me in DM.

Hello, i didn’t know that. Nice to hear some dutch people are here too! I’ll speak english so everyone can read what i say. But i like to know if there is also a Dutch-Sub in here, cause when i have problems i sometimes find it easier to talk in dutch.

Hello, I have a metal detector too, it's a great hobby. I have been watching some Dutch birds lately, it's a Swedish site but this camera is in your neck of the woods, Dutch owls :)

Ow thats nice to hear! Do you collect from special periods or do you like all finds in general?

Im still trying to find my way in this forum, it is very different from what i used to. but thankyou for your message!!

Yeah i guess these problems are most common in ASD-lifes. And ofcourse also for there partners and family.
Im trying to do my best, and thats why im here to look how you all cope with daily life.

And im glad to know my english isnt that bad!

thankyou again

I just like finding old coins and stuff. The oldest I have found so far is from the 1730s. I'm in Norway so the dream is to find a nice viking sword :) That would be nice.

The birds are just some live bird cameras someone showed me and they happen to be in your country.

Yeah a sword would be amazing!
i like coins too, but the coins here from the netherlans are most time too damaged. Only the bigger copper ones do survive the ‘acidic soils’ here.
And ofcourse silver and gold coins too. But i havent found the gold ones

i like coins, religious pendants and war-artifacts
I live near a old roman route. So i always try to go there and hope to find roman stuff. And i alreaddy found roman/celtic coins, fibulae’s, and some other roman things. See photo. (Little impression)

I hope you’ll find a sword one day, and if you do, i would definitely like to know and see all of it:D

Those are some very good finds. Very nice.

Welcome. I too have struggled socially though with perseverence I was able to mature socially. Hearing that you are a detectorist gave me a smile as "The Detectorists" is a favorite british series for me.

@Henkel

Welcome to the forum! Great introductory thread and follow-up posts! You come across as organized, engaging, friendly, polite, positive, modest and sincere in your written communications, so that is a huge plus in making connections, and in getting any more needs met here and elsewhere. So, we hope you enjoy it here, get support for any concerning issues you want to address, and learn along the way, too. This forum has helped many members there, and most members here seem to really care.

As for diagnostics, unfortunately wrong diagnoses are quite common, until one sees a medical person that is a specialist or very competent in diagnosing mental health conditions, as many mental health conditions are very similar in how they present itself, with similar signs and symptoms. I am glad you may have finally found the right answers for your difficulties. My wife finally found the right diagnosis for her, too, after nine hours of neuropsychological testing about six years ago, and after thirty years of failed prior treatments that were focusing just on treating the signs and symptoms, than determining the right diagnosis, which caused then those treatments to fail.

Unfortunately, many medical professionals can assume based on gender, stereotype, prior diagnoses, any biases, impatience, and/or quick superficial inspection what the diagnosis/diagnoses actually is/are, when in actuality the condition can be something totally else, that required more analysis, probing, questioning, testing, competence, and referral, etc. Being proactive and questioning of things that seem to make no sense after failure after failure helped us at times in dealing with the medical community, if we sensed wrongs or incomplete truths there, and after certainly research as well.

Getting specialists involved has helped at times for us, but we are a believer in helping ourselves, too, and not relying on medical people more than needed as often times they cannot do much there, or in any quicker time. Forums like this can certainly help!

Wow that is really amazing collection. Must be awesome to actually make the finds. I have had lifelong interest in history which broadened out into archeology. I have favorite periods and places, and the roman period in central europe is one of those.

What are the two tan objects in the back row? The smaller one almost looks like it could be a slingshot. Also is that an arrowhead in the back row far right? If so its huge, and reminds me of some hunting arrows I have seen Native American examples of, perhaps even a bird hunting arrow.

They both are slingshots found in soutern of The Netherlands. And the arrowhead i found in austria on a hunting weekend. I have send all photos/information to our dutch acheologic database but never heard from it again. So i dont have any history data to put a date on those objects.
The arrowhead is from the bronze age, determinated in austria by archeologist on site.

Hi Nick! :)
You have some really cool hobbies! And that is a really nice introduction. It will make it easier for us to get to know you :)

I don’t speak Dutch, but I think your country and language are beautiful and interesting. I have a special interest in various European cultures, and world travel (I’m not European, I’m Hispanic-American.)
I’m always willing to learn new languages and about different types of cultural music.

It’s awesome that you are here, I’m looking forward to getting to know you more! :)
