A-Z Places

Padova, Italy

A convenient place to stay to avoid the hassles of trying to stay in Venezia.

Visalia, Tulare County, California

According to the text, there are seven fun things to do in Visalia. But upon looking at the images, one finds only three things to do in Visalia.

1. Look at a mid sized Sequoia in the landscaping of a business park.
2. Scrump oranges from someone else's grove.
3. Sit in water, staring into space, bored, with a surgical mask on your face.

Wallsend, NSW, Australia

This is Wallsend Park. OK, not much to look at, but this field was where I played my first competition football (soccer) match. I was 7 years old, representing my school.

My cousin and I fished coins out of the moat when I was a teenager.

Agii Anargyri, Greece
A monastery in the hills above Drama, in northern Greece. The sound of the wind in the trees was eerie.

A little south of Bishop, between the Sierras and Death Valley, you might stumble upon this jewel.

That’s a bar down by the weir, where you can relax with a mug of tmavý next to the river.

And a bonus image of a sign I found amusing outside the Emmeloord railway station. (The translation from the Dutch is far more prosaic.)

A beautiful mountain town, just north of Lake Tahoe. Head out about as north and east as you can go in California, on I-80. Truckee is just west of the stateline with Nevada. So pretty.

You might even want to have a family picnic at one of the local campgrounds. One being The Donner Party Picnic Area, where it would be a smart idea to stick to the veggie platter.
