A-Z Places

Shwedagon Pagoda, Yangon, Myanmar

Shwedagon is one of the holiest shrines in Myanmar, a place of pilgrimage for millions. 112 m tall, it is covered with solid gold plates and at the very top is a 76 carat diamond. If you stand in just the right spot in the pavilion as the sun is setting, you can see flashes of different colours as the rays of sunlight are refracted through the diamond.

Yreka, Siskyou County, California

Every single time I've ever been to or passed through Yreka, there's always been a rainbow in the sky.

Doheny State Beach, Dana Point, Orange County, California

They put in a jetty for the marina, so the surf is actually pretty mellow compared to other nearby beaches. Many small children have learned to swim or surf at Doheney Beach.

Bumcooler Flat - South Australia

@Forest Cat, this looks like a map of the Coorong with, perhaps, some humorous additions. Cudlee Creek, Cock Wash, Sleezy Lizard Caves, Fanny Chrystal, Echidna Cave, Christmas Rocks and Madman Gap are there but I have never heard of Bumcooler Flat. (It’s an interesting area. Hindmarsh Island was the focus of one of Australia’s most bitterly contested land rights legal battles.)
