- Some apathy/avolition
- Difficulties in executive function
- Poor thougth like sounding just a song in my head when I'm going for a walk for example, and feeling self concious.
- Trouble to express myself
- Poor memory
- Bing better alone
- Passion or obsession to mental illness
- Hypochondriac
- Some stereotipies when i don't know what to do o when i'm nervous
- Confusion about myself
- Poor social interactions
- Difficulties understanding feelings
- Difficult to me carry some typus of film
- Some times feeling myself "delayed"
- Feeling extrange in comparision of the other humans
- Feeling myself saturated around people, a lot more if aren't "close" to me. Depressing after social acts or meetings.
- Leaving high-school a lot of times due to difficult socialization and that affects my mind I think.
- In awkward silences say something about something I'm seeing due to poor social skills or topic of conversation.
- I like philosophic and psicologic topics.

And well those are some of my feelings and symptoms. I'm diagnosed as treatment resistand depression but low mod isn't present and I have a lot of social disturbances..

I would love to be correctly disagnossed..

What are you thoughts about my symptoms ? Any of them can't engage in or any with you feel so identified?

I think I probabily have Asperger.

Hello!

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition. Doctors will be able to make a much more firmer diagnosis on your history rather than your current behaviours.

The problem with what you've listed is that a lot of these could be related to your depression. Apathy for one. Poor memory. Avolition, since you know the word I'm sure you're aware is strongly associated as a negative symptom in schizophrenia. What I'm saying here is that mental illnesses can muddy the water a lot at times.

A lot of doctors are very good at distinguishing autistic behaviours outside of mental illnesses. I mean mine had to pick apart Asperger's from psychosis and depression. I thought I was schizophrenic.

If you want to come to your own understanding you need to go back to your childhood, preferably before your depression started and understand her. If you have school reports from your early years they can be very enlightening. There's plenty of information on autism and Asperger's in childhood out there, books. I think that would be your best bet.

But it all truthfulness only an experienced doctor who knows about Asperger's in women can tell you if they think you're on the autism spectrum.

Thanks for asking Southern !

What kind of psycologist can help me with that? A normal one ?

I was in a psycologist congnitive-behavioral (?) and she just was interested in my ñresent not my past, and I actually believe that childhood have had big role in my actual situation.

The problem is that I haven't any school book of my infance because I lost all when I changed house.. Bff.. :(

I think it's anyone who has experience with autism in women. It can be a psychiatrist (like mine was), a psychotherapist, etc. You might have to ask them how much experience they have in women with autism.

What would be a good idea though is to look for local or national charities and talk to them and maybe find a specialist in your area if after talking to your doctor they dismiss you. Do bear in mind though that they might dismiss you because you truly aren't autistic. Seriously think it through, talk to your parents (if available) about you growing up and weight it out. But any good doctor would consider your thoughts and potentially refer you to a specialist.

Do you mean that you were in CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? Because they will focus on your present. CBT - which ever one you were doing, there's a lot of different CBTs all aimed at different problems - it's all aimed at give you the skills you need to cope, learning to recognise your difficulties, what's causing them and putting strategies in place to help.

Yeah, thought it was a long shot, not a lot of people do. I only mention it because for me it helped a lot when I can't see too many autistic behaviours I do at present. I was in a speech and language unit at school in my early days so they wrote a lot about my communication skills.

What everyone needs to know is that Asperger's ASD IS NOT A MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS. It's a "grab bag" of behaviors judged to indicate "abnormal behavior" caused by anything from premature birth to childhood trauma, to "antisocial" personality types! Before seeking an Asperger ASD diagnosis, a thorough medical exam needs to be done to identify any medical condition that might be present, such as depression, thyroid problems, hormonal issues, visual or hearing deficits, etc.

Hmm, let's separate opinions from facts here for this one.

THE FACT IS: ASD is NOT A MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS. If it were, a medical doctor (psychiatrist) would be the required diagnostician, but psychologists and "therapists" diagnose ASD - they are NOT qualified medical professionals - they are trained in psychological theories and do not have medical degrees.
