I live in Colorado. Next month we are hopefully purchasing a fixer-upper in Beulah, which, we hope to be the first in our living autistic community. I am a board member of a group, AutHaven community, [if the name Authaven sounds familiar it is because we have held annual by and for Autistic...

How long did it take for you to accept you were autistic?

I had a problem with it for one reason. when I was diagnosed "experts" were still saying that autistics lack empathy while I have maybe too much empathy. that was my only issue. other than that it was nice to know WHY i was so different from everyone else

    Seeing Temple Grandin

The only reason that I was able to go for free is because the autism society of colorado hosts a pizza night once a month. The first time we went we saw a very tired looking man with his severely disabled autistic son. To me the father looked like a poor single man who maybe worked as a janitor...

    can you read animal's expressions?

I do not think that I can read my dogs or chickens faces but I do very much sense what's going on with them. And they are attached to me as well.

    Physical Self-Calming

I run around in a little circle for hours at a time and I have to find something else too as I am in my sixties and eventually my knees or ankles [ankles deformed] will give out and I do not know how I will cope.

    senior citizen Autistic meltdowns

I went years, decades, without a meltdown. the past 7 or 8 years they have become more and more common. They are not violent or angry, but crying and saying 'why' alot. I also have PTSD and have had more trauma over the past few years. SO, I am wondering if part of getting old is more...

What would YOU look for in an intentional real-life community?

I am in the slow process of attempting to start building an Autistic community within an already existing community in Pueblo Colorado. My You tube channel, the Antique Autistic, is very new and I have barely touched upon the subject. I would like as much input from other Autistics as to what...

How old were when you got your Asperger's diagnosis?

I was in my fifties before being diagnosed. My youngest son had become horrifically and excruciatingly painfully ill. It took awhile to find out what was going on with him. I thought maybe his illness was in some way connected to my extreme differentness. It wasn't. but that is how and why I...
