Small talk (Do you hate it?)

For some reason I just seem to really love small talk. However, with one of my friends this small talk ends up in long talk - 5 hrs long! I sure do have to make sure my phone is charged first.

My friends are the same way. That is why I don't have too many friends. I avoid small talk. People like it and I strongly dislike it. Doesn't make any sense.

I don't get why people hate small talk, it's the best thing ever,

At the last minute a man rush into the elevator I was using this morning. He started to talk but I did not respond. I know it isn't alway polite to do that but I also felt I had a right to not talk. I hope it didn't upset him but I really would prefer not to talk with strangers especially when it is only small talk. He wanted to talk about whether the elevator was moving.

I don't hate it, I can see why people do it. I prefer not to engage in it unless I really have to, however. There's a formula to it, and once you crack the code you can end up talking with people who are much more interesting than first thought.

Edited to add: that said, if you really do hate it, then there is no good reason to be involved with it :)
