40F, undergoing assessment, I expect to pass as it was my therapist who identified it.

Came into diagnosis in an unusual way. I am deaf. I am successful in my own career. It was not until speech-to-text technology started rising a few years back that all my stress started mounting.

In short I didn't need to worry about social expectations because I was deaf and had a built-in communication barrier, until speech-to-text started becoming a thing about 4 years ago.

Got into alcohol as social expectations started rising, became much more detached at home, etc. I am wondering if it'll ever be possible to go out and socialize without the crutch of alcohol.

It's a mind-trip for sure and I'm trying to figure out where to go from here.
