I'm not sure, Tree. The professional had a long list of questions and I couldn't answer some them because I simply do not know. I feel lost.

ah
Well, if he/she asked things like...
whether you knew why you were there,
or the date, or the current president, or
wanted you to tell the meaning of a saying, such as:
"People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks,"
that would be a version of the Mental Status Exam.
With luck the person asking the questions actually was
competent and didn't say anything mystifying like:
"Do you experience ideas of reference?" [This would be
a very poor way of gathering information about that.]
A better way to explore that would be, for instance, to ask:
"Do people on tv seem to be speaking directly to you?
How often do you read articles in a magazine or on-line
and realize there are secret messages in them, meant
for you?"
And what you do all day...how you spend your time.
They ask things like that.
Warmheart Thank you, you shine too and also a beautiful speech giver. You shine!
I was asked; 1. Do you know where you are? My answer..um, yes, I'm at 1319 Summit Drive in Fort Worth,Texas
...meltdown was coming on strong and I had to get out of there as quickly as possible.
tree sorry, I am computer illiterate.ah

At the beginning, I felt optimistic like maybe she could shine some light about my circumstances, but by the 4th question, I was immensely irritated because she was in a hurry to meet with her next appointment, she just wanted to try to explain away autism and determine within HERSELF I'm just experiencing social anxiety disorder and NOT AUTISTIC. I feel like she was dismissing my responses and putting her responses to the questions. I am frustrated to the max!!"Do you hear voices?" is always a good one, too.
*Yes, I hear a voice now. It's asking me if I hear voices.*

In a classic status exam they like to have you count backwards, by
sevens, I think it is.
And tell them a list of words that they gave you a few minutes ago.
My mother did well on that one. She told the guy it was an easy
list to remember because being hungry at the time, remembering
the word "hamburger" was no problem.
---------
Did you manage to not cry during the exam?
Would you say you felt annoyed, irritated, frightened, perplexed,
angry.... or
what, by the questions?
Going to eat some yummy Chinese food, do some yoga and try harder to not allow anybody to control my emotions.Catlover614
That sounds about right.
Your evaluation of her.
Trying to get your answers to fit
a preconceived idea of 'how you are.'
It is very frustrating.
And, if you later read the report she writes up,
don't be surprised if you are misquoted.
I am not trying to creep you out.
These things happen.

What do you have in mind doing today to
get your metaphorical hands clean of this
experience?
Thank you, i do put pressure on myself. I feel like I have to demand the best out of myself.
Thank you WereBear.I am so happy the session went well.
OMG that is ME too! And it is exhausting.
It's been a very slow, uphill battle and every day is a struggle to not shed tears. Thanks for the encouragment. You sound like you're right on track to work through all those old childhood issues and move forward with your life. The shrinks are there to help you; some of them are better than others, of course. Just be yourself. They are trained and skilled at deciphering ambiguous statements and ferreting out deep feelings that we often don't even realize we have.
It terrifies me to be put under a microscope being analyzed and inspected by Healthcare officials. NT's unheartedly assume, "it's all in my head". No, it's not! I will be in an unfamiliar place alone and trembling trying to get the right words out to explain aspergers. And not just Aspergers, but also ADD, PTSD and SAD. Plus the fact that I will have to drive in heavy flow traffic to get there is overwhelming me. Any suggestions on what I can say to these people to not get condemned as a psychopath? I don't even know if I'm making any sense in this thread, but I sure would appreciate some help. Thanks!
No deception in my photo, what you see is 100% accurate. I turned 44 in Feb. Thank you for the heads up on probable scenarios as you describe. Thankfully, I don't have another appointment until Oct.If your photos not too deceptive then you definitely look a lot younger than 44.
Just beware the words 'And how does that make you feel....?' and 'Tell me about your childhood'. Those are psychitrist favourites.
Yer those are psychiatrist cliques I quoted. Oh and your pic's a bit blurry but you might be kinda pretty too , but I'm sorry, I'm not a cat lover , so it'll never work out between usNo deception in my photo, what you see is 100% accurate.
