    Selective Mutism

I can definitely empathize with you. One time at the grocery store I got so stuck in not being able to talk that the cashier started to sign to me. I just had the feeling of wanting to get out of there as fast as I can. I have a hard time coming up with things to say in conversations.

    Aspergers vs autism vs pdd-nos

I didn't start to speak until 3 1/2 or 4. Doctors said I was lazy and spoiled.

Blog post compares us to psychopaths

I can't believe what I read in the links provided. I work so hard to be a kind and thoughtful and the people around me work hard to understand and help me. These articles express very little empathy for anyone different than the author or the views of the author. Most AS people have a lot to...

What was your childhood like? 2015

I started to speak late too. Around four. My mother asked the pediatrician about the problem, but was told I was just spoiled and refused to talk because I had older siblings. I didn't really start to talk until I started school. I was quite and didn't upset the class, so I was able to get by...

New and trying to figure things out!

I am unofficial diagnosed from a psychologist. I say unofficial because she can't give an official diagnosed of Asperger's. As I have worked with her on my symptoms I have found the help I needed and it has made the difference. My family did a lot of r on the research subject, I mean a lot, and...

    Are all Aspies Eeyores?

I think I am a cross between Eeyore and Piglet. Eeyore's ho-hum and Piglet's anxiety.

how much does your external environment affect your mood?

Wow same here. I thought I was the only one to experience something like that. I don't know if it is an ASD thing or not

Sorting Through Self Diagnosis - Do I Fit In Here ?

I think I know how you feel. I, too, have had a hard time finding someone in my area that diagnoses ASD in adults. I have a Psychologist that has kind of diagnosed me. I still just don't know. I have taken the test and always score high on these test ASD. I don't like social situations and don't...

I just received a flu shot about two weeks ago, and it always makes me feel a little tired for a few days.

For those who try fairly hard to look like the rest..

I too try real hard when I am at work to seem like all is good when sometimes I just want to tell people to leave my alone. Going to the hairdresser is the worst for me. I just sit there and don't smile or engage in any conversation. I am okay with phone calls because at work I have a script I...

If There Was One Thing About Being An Aspie That You Wished NT's Would Understand, What Would It Be?

I agree 100%. I wish people will give more understanding with people with ASD. Put themselves in our shoes.

I Positively Detest Attending Social Gatherings but I have a Social Family

I understand completely. I use to be forced to go to family reunions of my dad's wife. I never wanted to go. I felt so out of place and anxious. One of the reason might have been I didn't know or like these people. Growing up I never liked family reunions with my own relatives. I felt out of...

    Teddybears and stuffed animals?

When I was growing up, as long back as I can remember, I had a Winnie the Pooh that I had with me everywhere I went. When I got a little older he went to bed with me or I held him when feeling bad. I had him until I lost him in a move when I was about 25. I was devastated. I thought all these...
