New Here.

Hi and welcome! Merrican here, but early riser :) Between 4 and 5, maybe 6.

Hope you like it here. I found so many intersting people and a lot of support. I was dxed atypical autism but when the DSM changed, they said I do not have autism, per se. I have a duplication over Chromosome 6 which you can read about in the Chromosome 6 Project if you like. As genetics become more widespread, I think the dxes will change with less called "Autism" and more the specific gene that causes the trouble.

For me, it causes sensory, food, sleep, and hyper activity troubles, as well as medication issues and a host of other neuro and health issues. I also hate stores and noise, too. I have earplugs in all the time!.

It's been hard. I am here because they thought I was autistic because I am NOT NT by any stretch so I more like autism than NT. No one ever thought I was NT! HAHAHA.

I never heard of the The Psychedelic Furs but that is a cool name and I am going to look them up right now. I bet I will remember some of their songs once I start researching them . I live in the 80s! I was in my own world, but i am sure I heard their songs in stores etc
Oh my gosh, The Psychedelic Furs are so amazing and you definitely gotta check them out! I actually saw them live three times! I made a blog on here just now called "Beautiful Chaos" and on it I'm reposting the blogs from my Tumblr page.

Hello everyone. My name is Sarah Randles, I'm 25 years old, and I have Autistic Spectrum Disorder. I joined on here just now because I want to meet people who have it like me. Throughout all my life, mostly in my teen and adult years, I have been struggling with it, and it can be a pain, especially being at stores with lots of people (I have trouble with crowds big time, plus I hate pushing shopping carts because I feel like I'm in people's way), making eye contact with people, etc. Sometimes I get worried if people find out I'm on the spectrum, they would look down on me, and sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who has it but I know that there are people out there who have it and struggle with the same symptoms like me. I want to let you all know I'm here for you all and I definitely know how you all feel.

My main favorite thing is music. Mostly '80s music, like The Psychedelic Furs (I'm a huge fan), The Smiths, Tears For Fears, Kate Bush etc., but I also love Green Day too. On my Tumblr account I wrote many blogs about them, and talk about them on my Twitter and Instagram. Music is one of the things that have helped me, mostly The Psychedelic Furs.

I had been volunteering at a cat shelter for five years to get the working experience. But sometime this year I'm going to this place where they find jobs that are suitable for people who have disabilities. I'm kind of nervous but excited at the same time.

Well, I guess that is all to say. I hope you enjoyed this and thank you for reading. :)
Hello and welcome to this supportive forum.

Sometimes I get worried if people find out I'm on the spectrum, they would look down on me, and sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who has it but I know that there are people out there who have it and struggle with the same symptoms like me.

I know how you feel, a person from another site and community that wasn't aspies related once tried to dox me (search online for personal info about me to share it without permission and potentially embarress and/or breach privacy). He struck a nerve when he started taking the p*** that I was active here under the same username as I was a valued staff member of the other community where people didn't know I was an aspie (the other site was sadly shut down around 1 year ago due to unavoidable circumstances). I actually stopped using this aspie forum for a good while after that, but now I think, sod it, if anyone has a problem with me being an aspie it's their problem and not mine hence my return. Also being an aspie has advantages too, E.g. most aspies are intelligent and are often extremely good at their special interest.

Anyway, welcome to the community. :)

Thank you so much!:) Sorry to hear what you went through. It's hard dealing with the symptoms I have but I just try to do the best I can. It's really nice to be on this site. I mean, I use other social media, but it feels good to be in a community where there are people like me.
