Halloween Songs/Music...

Well, Halloween is slowly drawing close again and it won't be long before the kids are out trick-or-treating while teens and adults are out drinking and/or partying or at home enjoying some scary movies.

Something I was wondering while thinking about this upcoming holiday is what music/songs do people like that are either Halloween themed or make them think of Halloween.
On a Halloween CD pack I got one year when I was younger, there was a whole host of songs and music - ranging from old classics (such as "Monster Mash", "Black Magic Woman", "Ghost Riders in the Sky", etc.) and popular songs (such as "Thriller", "Ghostbusters", "This is Halloween", etc.) to film tracks from tv shows and movies such as Poltergeist, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Addams Family, etc.
Oddly enough, the X-files theme was on that CD set. To quote Lisa Simpson, "What do aliens have to do with Halloween?"

Do you guys have any favourite music/songs that are Halloween themed or make you think of Halloween?

Here's a selection of choices from me:

1. I Put A Spell On You
2. This is Halloween (Marilyn Manson Cover)
3. Terror Time Again
4. When You're Evil
5. Thriller
6. Ghostbusters
7. The House on Shady Lane
8. Things go bump in the night
9. Lord of the Flies
10. Grinch is gonna get ya
11. The Night
12. Why was I born? (Freddy's dead)
13. He's back (the man behind the mask)
14. Come little children
15. The Headless Horseman (revised version)
16. Elijah

I was given a copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas songs that were all covers, including that one by Marilyn Manson.

Mostly I just like watching monster movies. The really old ones with the obvious puppets and bad masks. :p
Or Twilight Zone, or some really unnerving versions of things by Lovecraft or Poe. All older versions in that case too. I just can't take a monster movie seriously when there are iPhones in it. I start rooting for the monsters.

Some unconventional songs that are dark enough to remind me of Halloween:

"I Can't Decide" by Scissor Sisters

"Miss Lucy Had Some Leeches" by Emilie Autumn

"The Greatest Show Unearthed" by Creature Feature

"Buried Alive" by Creature Feature (bonus points for all the Poe references)

I once had a Halloween themed website that included music, pictures and videos. Some of the artwork were originals done by yours truly with a ton of pix swiped from the 'net.

It was a lot of fun playing around with it and I put it out there on the 'ole Yahoo 360 chat profiles and fifty bots randomly sent into Yahoo chat rooms.
The silly thing actually got a fair amount of traffic :)

It was called The Bare Witch Project before the "Charmed" series used the same name on one of their TV episodes.Lucky for me that I didn't get nabbed for stealing the name from them :D

I'm too late for Halloween 2015, but I'm going to offer some nonetheless... because I like dark music and I like Halloween. These ones are less overtly Halloween-focused than some of those suggested above, but each is nonetheless appropriate in some fashion, whether due to subject matter or general mood.

(Obviously, some of these are not appropriate for children.)

-"Goodnight Demon Slayer" by Voltaire -
-"The Dead Can't Testify" by Billy Talent -
-"Infected" from the movie "Repo! A Genetic Opera" -
-"It's a 'B' Movie" from the kids' movie "The Brave Little Toaster" -
-"All That Remains" by 3 -
-"All Souls Night" by Loreena McKennitt - https://youtu.be/RooTTuLCfNM
-"The Phantom of the Opera" from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical (but instead of the real thing I'm going to give you a cover by Lindsay Stirling: https://youtu.be/TCL94-MsxYc
-"Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac (it's about a witch): https://youtu.be/py3w5fttedA
-Most of the soundtrack from the musical "Sweeney Todd" by Stephen Sondheim (I'm not thinking of one specific song. It's obviously just a macabre musical.)

Halloween is my favorite holiday where you get to be whatever you want. I watched the movie "Freaks" that gave me the inspiration for doing something a little bit different. My costume was a Victor/Victoria where we split two formal outfits down the middle, shaved one half of my face and did a comb over of my long hair and pasted down the Victor side. The girls made me one fake boobie, did a full makeup treatment on Victoria and I wore a huge whore hoop earring.
It was a hoot and got many compliments for the thought we put into the damned thing.
Lots of the guys and girls squeezed my hooter :p

I did love the Disney Haunted House record my brother played. Great sound effects we used to use at Halloween for the poor little kids who dared to approach our front door. We had a life-sized anatomical human skull on a table in the foyer behind the front doors. The skull's jaw was wired to move and I'd pull a string under the table to make it look like the skull was talking. We also had another record player playing music and dialog from "Dark Shadows"....so the skull had the voice of Barnabas Collins.

Some of my favorites:

- Waking the Witch by Kate Bush
- Disturbing the Priest by Black Sabbath
- Diamond Dogs by David Bowie
- Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival
- The Number of the Beast - Iron Maiden
- Running with the Devil - Van Halen
