Possible? Of course. However what might be critical in this instance to consider the following:

Do you know for certain if the person you want to go out with has similar feelings/sentiments?

I'd think such a basic consideration could fundamentally make- or break your intentions. Regardless of what anyone else not actually in the equation may think.
