    MDMA-assisted psychotherapy

Hi, A year ago, a study was published on treating autistic adults for their social anxiety, using MDMA and psychotherapy. The results were clinically significant. You can find the study here: Reduction in social anxiety after MDMA-assisted psychotherapy with autistic adults: a randomized...

    What will DSM 6 decide?

I don't feel the DSM writes off Autistic people at all. They wrote off the label "Asperger's" and I agree with them: autism comes in many different forms, and just having Autism and Asperger's is too simplistic. It's more complicated than that, which is why it's now a Spectrum. I never thought...

Do people generally see self-diagnosis as an adult sufficient?

I didn't believe I needed a formal diagnosis at first, but I'm pretty glad I have one (and from a well renowned Autism researcher in the area). It gave me peace of mind being able to tell myself "you aren't crazy, you're just autistic". I used to think I had fried my brain with drugs or was just...

    Favorite Programming Languages

I like C++ a lot. I'm making a mod for a game (I'm sure some of you know what a mod is) where I have access to the source code, and learning C++ is really rewarding. I focus on visual programming, so I guess HLSL goes hand in hand.

Is forgetting a lot an Aspie trait?

I'm not sure if it's an Aspie trait, but I have that (selective memory).

    Any Twin Peaks fans?

My favorite is also "Lost Highway" actually, and I've seen all his films. My second favorite would be "Eraserhead".

Did your parents try to take away your special interests?

I had a big obsession with firearms and war for a long time, so of course, as a child my parents tried to steer me in other directions. Freaked out my teachers too.

    Any Twin Peaks fans?

I'm a huge David Lynch fan but I had never watched the original Twin Peaks and thus am having a hard time with this new season. It's still interesting art though. I did see Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me which was more disturbing than I understand the series to be.

Katie Price reveals she considered prostitute for Autistic son, Harvey...

Considering how hard it is for us autistic people to have normal relationships, I don't view anything wrong with hiring a prostitute or escort. Beware though, it doesn't always go as planned. I've only done that once and I was so petrified and nervous due to the long drive and no warm up (I...

    Laughing at 'the wrong time'

I used to do this constantly when I was younger. As a teenager I'd be walking down a hallway, just think of something funny, and just burst out laughing. People looked at me funny for it, but hey, if something is funny then it's ok to laugh, even if they're not in on the joke.

30 and only diagnosed 2 years ago

Hi, I'm Matt. I was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum (I know the sign up lists aspergers, isn't that no longer used?) 2 years ago by a Psychologist who does autism research. My whole life I had just assumed I was crazy as I would act out in school (though I don't view it that way...
