Finally get to call the doctor's office to see about a diagnosis

Chuck2

King of my desk
I have been waiting, first for my birth certificate, then for my social security card because the company I want to work with requires Social Security. I am told that it is part of the latest changes in how healthcare works now.

I'm a little excited but also quite nervous. I want to know if a doctor will decide that I am on the spectrum so I can figure out what changes I need to make in my life so that I can go back to work. I am nervous because this doctor may not be able to help any more than the previous doctors and also that they may decide that I do not have Autism. Every way I have been able to check so far has indicated that I have a high probability of it and I have family members with it so there is a precedence.

The day is here but I woke up way too early. I hope I am ready.

Best wishes to you, also, as a side note, make sure the doctor you are seeing has the ability to give a diagnosis. Those of us who made it far I. Life with out diagnosis have learned many subtle and unconscious tactics to hide our uniqueness. In fact, more than two therapists of mine were unaware or failed to recognize what a specialist could plainly see.
Good luck Chuck :)

Thanks, eveybody.

I have been to doctors who said they could diagnose it but then say they can't. The last one tested me for bipolar. I already know that I have that. He never tested for Autism.

Well, today was a wash and tomorrow may be too. I have food sensitivities that make it very hard to think, drive, and manage my mood. we ate something last night that seemed okay but this morning I was far from okay. This might not go away until tomorrow or the next day. I have other sensitivities as well. It's just so annoying and hard to keep up with.

Hmm, have you tried an elimination diet? I know people who have tried a diet where you eliminate just about everything, and then reintroduce certain types of food one at a time, all while closely monitoring how you feel. It's a relatively scientific approach to identifying sensitivities.

Actually, that's pretty much how I've done it since this stuff wasn't in my diet before. There's also the problem with being more sensitive to foods that weren't previously a problem.

What happened was that we changed our diet which introduced new ingredients to replace some that are commonly used that we are trying to avoid.

We switched to a wheat free diet and I have felt much better for it except when I eat food that contains tapioca starch. Two nights ago, we ate some food that had tapioca starch and I felt fine for about an hour or so and it went downhill from there.

I have a list of foods that cause problems for me and have just added this to the list.

I'm feeling a lot better so far today but it is two hours earlier than I planned on waking up so I can't be sure yet.

Still can't bother calling today because I still can not think. So many people think that having a sensitivity to MSG and similar things is total BS. I can tell you that it is not for some of us.

By "us" I mean humans in general just like anybody can suffer a bone fracture.

****EDIT****
Looking good for tomorrow. The only reason I am waiting is in case they want me to come right over to do paperwork and I am just getting the brain function back to be safe driving.

Called doctor yesterday. Their paperwork is a mess but it gets me in. The funny thing is that I am already in the system. It is a county agency.
