I am the hunter, alone in the night.
I am the fangs, and the claws that cause fright.
I lurk in your dreams, in shadows it seems.
Nearly upon you, yet never quite seen.
Of your fear, don't ashamed be
For, know, men have named me.
I am Pasht, Bastet, the hunter in the night.
I prowl by dark, and sleep by the light.
I am the hunter, of whom you dream.
I leave my prey on your doorstep
And wonder why you scream.

>^..^<
*twitches tail* dumb humans.

I do write poetry too. I actaully have started a social group for people who enjoy writing. :) Nice poem by the way.

I Do

Is my red your red*
Is my green your green

We're not comparing apples and oranges
We're comparing love and war
We're comparing hope and despair*

You say I'm blind*
I say your crippled*

We're not running*
We're not walking*
We're not crawling*

Humanity is dead
God is alive*

Humanity shuffled its cards*
Humanity dealt it's cards*

God watched*
I listened
You walked

I do. I think this is my strongest one though. I wrote it for poetry class, we had to write an imagist poem based on the first vingette from Akira Kurosawa's Dreams, Sunshine Through The Rain.

To Know

Tell me where I shall not go
And I will go
Because I want to know
What the world will show

The sacrifices we make for our curiosities

A somber light invites me into the pulsing rain
But a warning is given
On the day the sun shines through the rain
Foxes wed in their private procession

But I must see
What I ought not
Because I have to know
What the world will show

I go
Into the forest the trees tower
Authorative and intimidating
The green rustles beside me
The rain slides down those towers
And through the green

The fog rolls through nature?s path
Shrouding the forbidden
I gaze through
And see
The drums, the walk, the dance, the reverence
The foxes clad as humans are

The sacred turn to me with a start
In fear, I race home
Bounding through the puddles in the mud

I am greeted not with shelter
But with gloom and a blade
And instructions I must abide
Forgiveness or death I do not know

But now I know
What the world will show
And I must go
Through the field of flowers
And under the rainbow.

Hi Smith2267, Arashi222, SkyHarbor76, imagesbyholly, and Pella, you may know this but if not - there is currently a Poetry!!!!!!! Thread active in Obsessions and Interests :)

I wrote this short poem called "At Night".

At night

The darkness

Swallows me

With dreams as deep

And distant as

The sea

Drinking hope

As sustenance

Does she

At night

Her retched

Despondency

Overwhelms

And interweaves

In me

And then

With reckless power

Releases me

My heart

Aglow

Shall not remain

For ebbs must flow

And passions soar

In vain

Till dusk

Uncaring, Cold

Begins again
