    Need help understanding myself

Hi! I was wondering if anyone had similar experiences as me. I had these kinds of problem throughout my life. I panic in certain situations when I am with people. This mainly happens when people say/do things that I didn't expect. Like for example, if a friend says something that I wasn't...

Overactive mind - an aspie thing?

I think it could definitely be an Aspie thing but can also be other things as well like ADHD, anxiety or something. Many nights (more so in the past), my mind seems to be racing. It is usually if I have something in mind, especially if I had to go to bed with unfinished task or activity. Then I...

    Memory

I realized today that I have issues with short term memory. See, my memory is weird and unreliable. Sometimes, it is impeccable. I remember many instances of childhood memories (such as when I was in my diapers at 1 year old) and a lot of information in my biology class and math class. However...

    Forming and maintaining friendships

Hi! I can relate to the social exhaustion. After most social events (anywhere with people), I get really tired and get a headache afterward. Most of the time, I would need to de-stress alone in my room for couple of hours in a quiet environment to regain my energy to function again. I can also...

    Sound/noise

If I get overwhelmed to a certain point, I would get anxious or angry.

    Sound/noise

Also, when I was younger, going to a new restroom was scary, because I didn't know how loud the toilet was going to be.

    Sound/noise

Yeah that is the worst. After I used the bathroom, my mom had flushed it for me, while I waited outside with my ears plugged.

    Sound/noise

I have always had a hard time with sound. Since I was very young, I had an intense fear of loud sounds like toilets flushing, balloons popping, etc. Even to this day, I would often plug or cover my ears before I flush the toilet. Not only that, I had, and still have, a hard time blocking out...

What are some positive aspects of your Asperger's?

For me, a positive aspect for me is the ability to hyper focus. When I am usually interested in something, I either finish or concentrate on it in intense depth. I can get my work done fast that way. I am also tenacious and loyal.

Was told I'll need to improve my "communication skills" if I want to be hired directly :/

I also had a similar problem. When my mentor told me to turn in the rough draft of my research report, I attached the electronic report onto the "replied" section in the email without any headings or message. He criticized me that I need to have a better communication skill, if I wanted to...

Memory - short term and long term

I think I have pretty good long term memory. I can vividly recall many aspects of my childhood. I can remember when my younger sister was born, pre-school life, and even when I was around 1 year old. I don't know my exact age, but I remember walking across my grandparents' living room with my...
