    Burnout

Sorry, I don't live in the US. That might be how the US system works, but I have explored all of my options as far as free therapy goes where I live and it's not easy. There are absolutely no autism services for adults in my city unless you are considered "low functioning". Psychiatric services...

    Burnout

Therapy can easily run at $100 a session here. Definitely can't afford even one of those a month. It's online or nothing for me. Right now I'm just kind of in damage control. I had just started to make headway in my career and I'm trying not to lose it.

    still looking for my place

Thanks, Otenba. There aren't many autism services or autism-friendly doctors at all where I live, unless you're a child. There is one support organization for adults but I was turned away for being "too high functioning". I'm trying to be referred to a doctor more familiar with anxiety. I've...

Replaying social interactions of the day, and from further back

I used to do this all the time. It felt pretty terrible, because the more I ruminated, the less I understood. Friendships used to freak me out. I never knew how we stood from day to day. I felt like somehow the friendship reset every day, so just because we left on good terms the day before, I...

    Burnout

I graduated from university 3 years ago and started trying to build a career in theatre, as a writer/performer. There aren't a lot of roles out there that I fit, so I started writing my own. My initial bumbles before I thought I knew what I was doing were actually kind of successful and I...

    Burnout

Thank you. I am extremely relieved to have reached back out to the autism community. I have been practically begging medical professionals for help for months while this was going on and nobody had any idea what to do. It was exactly like you said - everyone else seems to have templates and what...

    still looking for my place

There's a social group that meets in my city that I'm just trying to get myself out to. They only meet once a month though. I'm hunting for an advocacy organization in my city or nearby because I'd love to be part of something autistic-run.

    Burnout

Hi folks. I'm new to the forums. I've posted an introduction but figured I'd ask more specifically here. I'm looking for resources and experiences about burnout, specifically the burnout autistic adults feel when they are forced to pass as NT for too long. I was diagnosed 8 years ago by a...

    still looking for my place

Hi folks. I'm a 30-something who was diagnosed with Asperger's 8 years ago. It's been a fight to get doctors I've seen since the diagnosis to acknowledge it. I'm AFAB, trans masculine, gender fluid. (If you aren't familiar with those terms, I was "assigned female at birth", have taken some steps...
