How Do You Deal with Judgmental People Who Don't Understand?

Wow, I didn't know that, about our amygdala being more sensitive, because that would totally explain why I have to take anti-anxiety drugs to function, and I've always resented the people who will judge you and say you shouldn't have to take medicine, you just need to learn to stop being...

How Do You Deal with Judgmental People Who Don't Understand?

I totally agree about the misconception! No 2 Aspie's are the same. I think NT's look at symptoms from the OUTSIDE and try to interpret them, but they can't see INSIDE our brains. My nephew is also an Aspie, and he and I BOTH are the exact opposite in that we are OVER-sympathetic to a fault. I...

How Do You Deal with Judgmental People Who Don't Understand?

Believe me, I TOTALLY understand, especially about having a hard time working and paying bills. I always struggled financially. I couldn't understand why I could, on one hand, be (supposedly) a genius, always the smart kid, outperform other kids in school easily, but then when I got into the...

    Advice Request... Feeling Completely Lost

You could be telling my life story right now! I went undiagnosed most of my life, and even now, til reading this I did not know that that could have been attributed to my autism. I never understood why I was not able to do jobs it seemed like most normal people could, because I knew I was smart...

Does anyone walk on their toes, or been told a lot that they walk differently or funny?

Actually I think that's the same thing. I say toes, but it's actually just the balls of my feet when I think about it

Does anyone walk on their toes, or been told a lot that they walk differently or funny?

I think the reason I walk on toes is bcuz its uncomfortable to walk flat foot, like too much impact or something. Then when I sleep my toes r pointed straight down. If I pull them up like normal people it takes muscular effort. The upside to walking on your toes is that it gives you a really...

What does TBI stand for. What's it like having a photographic memory? Sounds really cool! Haven't heard of Temple Grandin, but one of my favorite characters on the show Criminal Minds, Reid, is autistic with an eidetic memory.

So when you say you had a brain injury, were you born with the autism, or did it come from the brain injury?

ROTFLOL at Aspie Olympics!! I also have been told that people don't hear me coming and I "sneak up" on them and scare them, LOL! But I never thought to apply it to the Aspergers, nice to actually meet another person who does the same

What are the upsides, the advantages you have that come with your autism/autism spectrum?

I know what you mean, as far as not knowing if it's the Aspergers or just part of your personality, because I know that plenty of people who are not Aspies have the same trait. I am that way too, so I wonder the same thing. Sometimes I feel guilty about it, like maybe it means I'm self-centered...

Does anyone walk on their toes, or been told a lot that they walk differently or funny?

I can't believe your teacher said that, that was mean and not funny! That's funny about how you have a little trouble walking, yet you are good at running. But I'm the same way, because I always was told I walked funny, but I was good at dancing. Outside that, I bump into things a lot, like...
