Too Logical To Vouch for Christmas!

My kids believe in Christmas.

Because I didn't dare do otherwise.

But, personally, I had great reluctance in allowing my children to pour their heart & soul into a false belief that will end up breaking their heart.

Everyone says I'm taking it too seriously. I'm spoiling the 'point of it' .... The 'fun'.

I have difficulty agreeing.

To me, I am sparing children their disappointment later on.... I hate to see anyone build a belief so avidly... Surely the more you believe in something, repeatedly every year, the more upset you'll be in the end.... ?

It makes no sense.

When kids get their Christmas presents they already know the difference between the ones 'Santa' bought and the ones the parents got... Thanks to the tips given to parents who mastered the Art of deception by choosing a different wrapper.... Attempting to divert the inevitable tantrums and heartbreak if the kids figured out the whole thing was a lie.

I'd prefer to take 'Santa' out of Christmas and still have the presents, festivities and fun.... And just explain that Santa is a fun idea but he isn't actually real!

Kids could then enjoy 'Santa' as a pretend character minus the belief...

Oh, wait. I get told that my kids will just 'Upset other parents' kids by telling them he's not real.... A stress imposed by Neurotypicals, Again!

Sounds like a load of stress to me.

I still think I'm right and the World is wrong.
