repetitive movements?

I don't know if this is a part of aspergers or not, but does anyone have repetitive movements such as flapping hands, rocking back and forth sometimes without realizing it? Stuff like this? I know it probably sounds like the tic disorder, but can it be a part of asperger symptoms too?

Yes, this is self-stimulatory movement, or 'stimming'. Most people with ASD do it, NTs do it to some extent too. It is to regulate sensory stimulation or to soothe and cope with anxiety.

Yes, AS includes stims.

Common stimming actions
Visual: Flapping hands, blinking and / or moving fingers in front of eyes; staring repetitively at a light
Auditory: Making vocal sounds; snapping fingers
Tactile: Scratching; rubbing the skin with one's hands or with an external object
Vestibular: Moving body in rhythmic motion; rocking front and back or side-to-side, spinning, bouncing
Taste: Licking body parts; licking an object
Smell: Smelling objects or hands; other people

There are so many different ones that it would be difficult to make a comprehensive list. There are even entire product lines dedicated to this, spinners, weights, bracelets, necklaces....Home
