Hi everyone!

Hey, I'm Molly and I'm 15. I've always known I was different from everyone else, but I never knew I was an Aspie until I was 11. I go to a pretty big high school and still feel like the square peg in a round hole, even with other orchestra people. It's hard to explain to people why I do a lot of the things I do, and since most people aren't willing to listen, it's hard to keep any friends.

I was supposed to skip kindergarten and go straight to first grade, but I was so socially below everyone that they made me stay with my age group. I've spent most of my school career being bullied by other kids, getting in trouble with teachers who don't "get it", and hiding behind thick books and my music stand. I prefer online communication to face-to-face interactions, obviously like everyone else on this site, but I almost wish I could have been someone different.
I met a couple of people who I thought were my friends but they seem to have run out of tolerance for my...idiosyncrasies.

Anyway, I just joined this site, so hi!

Hey Molly, welcome to AC! There are a lot of young members with whom I don't doubt you can relate.

If I may ask, what instrument do you play?

Double bass. I started playing it because the sounds of higher instruments freak me out a lot, and being back with the low strings meant less exposure to that, but it's a great instrument and I really love it!

I always liked the bassists. So chill and laid back...possibly for the reasons you mentioned, haha.

Haha yes, quite chill indeed.
Actually I have a suspicion that I'm not the only Aspie bassist in my orchestra.

Hi Mollie and welcome,
The good news is you dont need to spend anytime, trying to get anyone here, to get you. Registration here guarantees friendship and tolerance.
Cheers

Welcome Mollie :)

You're in safer hands; we don't tolerate bullies here. Hope you settle in nicely, and feel right at home.

Cool, another bass player! I started when I was 15. Welcome!
