Aspie-friendly Doctors in Central Virginia?

Hello,

I am in need of a general practitioner (not pediatrician) who is Aspie friendly, in Central Virginia. I have had so much difficulty with doctors who don't understand my condition. I am willing to drive to:

Lynchburg / Amherst
Bedford city / county
Roanoke
Charlottesville
Nelson / Albemarle counties
Staunton
Lexington

...or places near those localities.

If I understand correctly, you would like to find doctors who are not pediatricians. It is a bit hard to find general practitioners since I think only psychiatrists are qualified to proper diagnosis.

I did a quick search and managed to find a list of people within the location you mentionned.

Thanks for the listing Malortie! That may be useful soon, but right now I do need a GP. Every time I am sick or have a health concern, I end up in massive meltdown at the doctor's office because the appointment is always an hour behind, the lights are too bright and the doctors don't believe my explanation why I am agitated by the time they finally see me. Then, they get distracted from my initial concern, or they look at the research I have done about the symptoms that brought me to their office and write me down as "hypochondriac"... If I could find someone who knew something about Aspergers, they would know why those things bother me and focus on the problem that brought me in, rather than the extraneous stressors that occur in the office itself.

Wow, that was very kind! I get so overwhelmed by web searches when it isn't within my field of interest / expertise. I really appreciate your efforts on my behalf; this doctor business has me very stressed out. But now I have some numbers I can call tomorrow, and hopefully get an appointment soon.

Maybe I should ask if they will entertain a call from my therapist, in advance of my appointment? So they aren't caught off guard?
