I think that's a rough age to be told that your feelings and habits are part of a cookie cutter diagnosis. I can definitely sympathize with her...such a shame. I'm shocked she wasn't given more support.
That lack of support is here too, parents are given a diagnosis of ASD, handed a few leaflets and sent on their way. Its impossible to understand and I've heard the usual bull*%& spoken about kids who are asd.....genuis, won't talk, doest want friends...etc etc. That poor girl probably was as confused and scared as someone can be, docs need to be more aware or refer to an expert.
