    Hypnosis, ASMR, etc...

I've haven't had much success with either. For some reason I can't concentrate on it for more than a few minutes.

    Hypnosis, ASMR, etc...

I've tried hypnosis, ASMR, binaurals, and guided meditation online for my depression and I've had mixed results. Has anyone else had experiences with these for depression, anxiety, mental illness, etc.?

    Do people change?

I feel the need to clarify a few things: -I wouldn't go as far as to say my brother if sapping off me. He has his own job, and he makes more than I do. At the risk of sounding like I have Stockholm Syndrome, he is really not as bad as he use to be. The example I gave of the borrowed money...

    Do people change?

I have long held the belief that people don't change. They can change their habits or their appearance, or they can make an improvement in their temperament and/or attitude. But ultimately, people don't change from who and what they really are at their core. Admittedly, I'm a pessimist. After...

    Have you ever been happy?

I'm sure I was happy a child prior to 1st grade. But aside from fleeting moments, there was never a moment where I looked at life and could honestly say I was happy, or at the very least content with life. The only time I ever felt real joy was when I got a dog for my 8th grade graduation present.

    Upsetting Words

What if you're talking about yourself? I would consider myself socially ret@rd!d, and I'm only directing that label toward myself. retarded: characterized by a slowness or limitation in intellectual understanding and awareness, emotional development, academic progress, etc. I have limitations...

Is Life Really Supposed To Be This Lonely

Same here. I've always had problems with friendships; they always seem to outgrow me. I live with my parents and younger brother and I no longer feel a connection with them (Sometimes I question whether I ever really did). I find most people annoying. I think people are inherently selfish and...

What are your aspie fears and how many of you share my own?

I share most of your fears. Additionally: -Afraid my life's goals and dreams will be unrealized -Afraid that I am unlovable -Afraid I have nothing to offer to a woman, or anybody really -Afraid I am beyond repair, and will remain defective until I die -Afraid that my worst self is just actually...

Does anyone find advertising to be really stupid?

I hate them too. When you read Edward Bernay's "Propaganda" and look into subliminal messaging, you notice how they're manipulating you. For example, on drug commercials they usually will show images of people having fun, playing with kids and/or pets, generally being happy, or something funny...

    Self Diagnosis; Why the Controversy?

Admittedly, I've self-diagnosed myself with high-functioning Asperger's. But this was only after spending a year or so doing research on it, and I'm not the type of person to assume I have a condition over a few mild symptoms (i.e. I feel hot and I have a bit of a stomach ache, so I must have...

What was it like having friends growing up with AS?

In first grade I had a good friend for a while but he realized that everyone else thought I was weird so then he just avoided me. Then in from about 6-8th grade I had a really good friend; we hung out everyday, I went to his house a lot, I knew his family, etc. Then he played a prank on me...
