Buddhism and the nature of reality

I've been a little busy lately and haven't had time to post, but I'll definitely try to spend some time before I head to bed tonight to reply with my thoughts on the things you guys have brought up. If I haven't already said it, please keep in mind that what I'm saying may be completely wrong; I...

Buddhism and the nature of reality

I'd be more than willing and interested in hearing about your beliefs without passing judgment if you want to share in a private message. As you mentioned, Buddhism is not well understood in the US, and as such, people tend to think I'm a little crazy because Eastern philosophy is not well...

Buddhism and the nature of reality

There's a good quote supposedly by Buddha himself that sums up the spirit of the religion in general: "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense." In other words, don't take my word...

Buddhism and the nature of reality

Very interesting. I've never heard of Shintoism before, although it's apparently very popular in Japan. A quick scan through its Wikipedia entry shows a lot of beliefs that, to me, seems unfounded, although serious study into it would be required to see if they have any basis for belief. I...

Buddhism and the nature of reality

Religion, particularly Buddhism, is my current obsession/interest and is perhaps the strongest one I've had in my entire life. It started about two ago, I guess. For a period of time when I first was introduced to it, I became literally obsessed with reading books on Buddhism and Eastern...

    feeling very strongly so quickly?

I get the exact same way. For me, it's either all or nothing. I either put 100% of my love towards the relationship or I don't bother at all (and thus don't get into relationships in the first place). I don't have any good advice for you right now, as I'm in a relationship like this currently...

    Does Aspergers make YOU lazy?

Like others have said, I'm super tired all the time, so I guess in some aspect, it looks like I'm lazy. I tend to blame it more on the psychiatric medication I'm on rather than on Asperger's.

    how do you make friends?

I have very high standards for friends, I think. It's certainly not that they have to be perfect; that's not it at all. It's just that I figure if we were meant to be friends, it'll happen... somehow :P. If it wasn't meant to be, then it won't happen. I basically just let things happen naturally...

    Hi, I'm a potential Aspie :)

I actually found it on Google Images. I forget what I searched for exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's part of a tea plantation in Japan. Thanks for the welcome gailt915 and poey! :) It seems everyone so far has scored higher than me on the Aspie Quiz. :/ My psychiatrist ruled out ADHD (as per...

    Hi, I'm a potential Aspie :)

Unfortunately, I know little about Taoism, but from what little I do understand, it's not that far apart from Buddhism. :) Correct me if I'm wrong, of course. :) Thanks for the welcome!

The "How to fix any computer" thread

re: The "How to fix any computer" help thread While problems with Linux are sometimes (very) difficult, at least it's possible in almost all cases provided you know how to code. In closed-source operating systems such as Windows and Mac OS X, some bugs are just impossible to fix without the...
