    My Introduction

At first the cynic in me thought your post was a recruitment pitch for the air force. But I have to remind myself there isn't a conspiracy behind everything. So welcome.

Hi from a freshly diagnosed aspie

Welcome fellow kiwi. How hard was it to get an official diagnosis in NZ? I'm unofficially diagnosed myself, but I'm curious about the process. If you don't want to clutter this thread feel free to PM. Thanks

What things do you like and dislike about the way people talk?

I was making a joke about being a grammar Nazi, whose grammatical correction was wrong! Clearly I was being too subtle. Actually since I'm not a grammar Nazi I have no idea whether the apostrophe is needed. [attempt at humour] Perhaps I should have added a disclaimer that my post was meant to...

If you were in a Real Life RPG what would be your stats?

Strength 14 Dexterity 14 Constitution 12 Intelligence 17 Wisdom 16 (6) Charisma 12 (16) Ability Scores Explained Despite never working out I've always had muscles. I'm only average height but I've always been freakishly strong for my size. My balance has always been pretty good, but my eye...

    Meet another awesome person

Eight has always been my favourite number. when I was young I looked forward to being a big boy when I got to 8. I also like it's symmetry and the infinity symbol (sometimes called the lazy eight). Also Section Eight was the old US military term for someone dismissed due to mental health reasons.

    Maladaptive daydreaming?

I still do this, to a lesser degree today. As a teenager I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. As an adult I no longer play (much to my regret), but I still spend a lot of time thinking about and creating characters and then think about how they would react in different scenarios. Sometime I think...

I think I've been acting this whole time?

Hi Kristina, It’s a shame that the so-called medical professionals won’t take you seriously. Like you I have self-diagnosed with HFA. Also like you I’m fairly good at acting normal, so that no one would believe me if I told them my suspicions, my wife certainly doesn’t. You mentioned that you...

Emotions and Logic - is it me?

I’m terrible for picking apart tv shows and movies. I’m also always trying to solve the show / movie based on the clues embedded within the narrative. [SPOILER ALERT] Alien Covenant: Why would you step foot on an unknown planet without equipment to protect you from unusual life forms. I would...

    The last thing you bought?

Magic The Gathering Mind vs Might Duel Decks. I just started to be interested in this again as my teenage son, has shown an interest.

TV Shows you WOULD like to see brought back...

I'd bring back Firefly, Threshold and The Good Guys. Maybe even Gummy Bears.

    Aspergers and Religion

I was raised in a household where religion wasn’t talked about. My father had gone off of god because his first two children died one of cots death and another on an aneurism (she was 8). I never knew either of them so it never affected me personally. Funnily enough from the age of 8 I always...

    Driving & Getting Lost

On the whole I’m a good driver and if I’m traveling along a well-used route (well-used by me) I’m fine. Where I come unstuck is if I take a side street that has a twist or turn in it, I usually lose track of where I am compared to where I’ve just been. Even when I try to guess which way I need...

    Anniversaries are dumb

I always thought that anniversaries, birthdays and other mainstream celebrations are kind of pointless. I believe the only reason that most people do these celebrations is because they were raised in a society where they’re done. .e. brainwashed. It appears to be a weird ritual/obligation from...
