    ASD-themed jewelry/accessories

I love etsy because it supports independent artists and entrepreneurs. It's especially great for autism stuff because stim toys and pins and stuff are often made and sold by other autistic folk.

    Autism and inanimate objects?

Yes yes YES! Your pineapple reminds me of my rabbit keychain, which I carry around everywhere and have named Eydir. But I get this way about some of my pillows, clothes, bags, blankets, water bottles, and stuffed animals of course. I'll feel affection and love for some of these objects...

    Is Therapy for Neurotypicals?

Hey all! So I've been going to therapy for depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, and general mental health for years. But I've never really found it super effective. I've felt like, because I'm very self aware, I'm very self aware and I felt the therapists were never able to uncover anything...

MY PARTNER JUST TOLD SOMEONE IM AUTISTIC WITHOUT MY CONSENT

Thank you for this well thought out response. I think such a card would be very helpful. Perhaps I could make a custom one asking for discression...I could use that for hospitals and during meltdowns. I could give some to my partner to give to people instead of saying something unpredictable...

MY PARTNER JUST TOLD SOMEONE IM AUTISTIC WITHOUT MY CONSENT

I would love to be out but my work contract is very clear that I could be direst for any psychiatric diagnosis including something as common as depression and anxiety (which I also have). I live in Taiwan and there's no ADA or anything that can protect me.

MY PARTNER JUST TOLD SOMEONE IM AUTISTIC WITHOUT MY CONSENT

I had an emotional meltdown at a restaurant and my partner got embarrassed and explained to the owner that this was happening because I’m autistic. I told her it was notokay, I didn’t consent, and she can’t do that. Her response was “well I didn’t want him to think you were crazy.” I’m so...

"This diagnosis is the worst thing that's ever happen to her"

That's what my mom said to me. She was visiting from far away. I had worked hard to set it all up. She was unbelievably ungrateful. I was growing increasingly sad/frustrated at her lack of caring. Inevitably, I had a meltdown. And when I left the room, that's when she said it. She still...

Can you look into your own eyes?

Interesting question! I can look at my own eyes with no issues. I personally don't find it difficult or painful to make eye contact. Just confusing and socially pressuring because I know there is a "right" amount of eye contact I am expected to make and at the right times too. My main issue...

I've recently stumbled upon this website and found it really helpful. You can talk to people that are trained to listen and not judge. It's really good for venting or working out your feelings. I gave it a try and had a great experience- I wanted to share with you guys! <3...
