Talked to some wonderful people this week after my son's ASD2 diagnosis, got a better perspective. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my son, he is exactly who God made him to be, and I will make sure he grows up believing that.

Comment by 'jsilver256' in 'Autism symptoms I have and don't have'

I find that rigid routines is a bit touch and go, because it takes a lot of processing to make them in the first place. For example, with traveling, I had the habit of not packing until I had to and just taking a credit card to my destination. Now I have a redundant bathroom set which I throw in...

If smoking is not allowed in NYC parks why do they still allow it.

I moved away from Seattle when picking up needles before letting my kid play on the playgrounds became a thing. I'm surprised smoking is the biggest of annoyances at a NYC public park. Lack of enforcement is a real problem in big cities in the past decade.

Any advice to become antisocial and not talkative anymore?

Yeah, it's weird but if you eavesdrop into NT's conversations, it almost never wanders into these territories except lightly. Maybe they'll talk about health problems (as an annoyance) or the latest thing their kid did, but never past trauma. It might be beneficial to listen to a convo and...

"Original Sin"....Just Another term for our animal nature?

I do not have evidence for that. But I do think it is interesting that urban civilization, writing systems, and identical ancestor points have overlaps time range wise.

"Original Sin"....Just Another term for our animal nature?

Linguistic recursion is quite real. In a sense, you could say it is a less structured form of recursion in computer science in the sense that it involves generating infinite semantic units via nesting. Let's use another example: An animal might have calls / cries that correspond to "RUN...

"Original Sin"....Just Another term for our animal nature?

There is a distinct and unique aspect to humanity, and that is the language center. Animals do use basic symbols/encodings (like calls or gestures) to communicate, but there seems to be a tipping point where recursion occurs and there isn't much "in-between." In short, a seemingly simple...

What do you wish your parents had done differently?

Unfortunately not really possible in our case. He does need a lot of intervention, or we would not have gone through this process in the first place. But you are correct and we will keep his diagnosis on a need-to-know basis in real life.

    Kangaroos

That is pretty cool. We have magpies here in the USA, but the Australian ones do seem much more intelligent and well, more crow-like you said. The USA magpies seem more like normal birds.

Got final evaluation results. Received a surprise ASD2 diagnosis for my youngest, I thought he was ASD1 for sure. Happy for this forum and the amazing ASD2 posters to set a reassuring example.

What do you wish your parents had done differently?

Finally got the full evaluation back. High IQ. ASD2. The ASD2 instead of ASD1 part is a surprise. Apparently his teachers rated him very harshly. Sigh... I don't know.

I can't ride rollercoasters any more

Yeah wasn't it mentioned in the other thread that the norovirus spreads only by hand to mouth contact? I don't think we have a strong understanding of disease spread. COVID proved that. It is a small mercy for your mother that she did not have to suffer this while fighting her own battles...

I can't ride rollercoasters any more

Oh yeah the norovirus sucks like nothing else. We had one Christmas ruined because of it. My husband got sick first, then I got sick, then the kids got sick, ... it might've been saved if we all got sick at once, but someone always needed taking care of lol. If you want a serious answer to the...
