Photo of cage used to restrain autistic boy become public :(

Sad to see it but not surprised. I'll bet that they still feel right in what they did. It stood for 14 days before it was dismantled so I assume at least one person if not more had the decency to report and stop this.

I passed autism to my daughter.

Funny, a family member recently said to me regarding my lack of contact/cards etc "how would you feel if your kids did that to you when your older, you wont like it" My answer was simple, If they do I'll accept it as thier choice and it wont bother me.

I passed autism to my daughter.

I have a young aspie son (offically diaginosed). I try not to threat him differently but will allow space when I feel it's needed. I dont push him into situations I know will make him uncomfortable like I was forced to but I also dont allow him to hide away and I get him out and about and...

Tummy speaking with Dr's visit, highish blood pressure and stereotyping

If you mean your tummy starts growling like a blood thristy bear then yes, it's caused by nerves in my case. Sorry you had to endure the "but you dont have AS" from a doc of all people. Thats why I keep quiet. It's the brave ones like you Suzanne who will help the world understand what AS is and...

I think I have asperger's, would like some input, and advice with getting a diagnosis.

Hi Rin, No need to feel alone in this, a lot of people here found out late in life and went through what you are going through right now. Assuming you are an aspie its not the end of the world and you'll find explainations for a lot of weird feeling and expieriences you've had. It's all normal...

Advice wanted on family and 'addiction'.

I've recently returned to gaming as a stress reliever as I'm coming to understand that my depression is likely tied to stress. Smashing a tree with a hammer!!!! WTF, yeah we are the ones with a problem  Honestly if you did that they would be calling the white van or the police to...

Advice wanted on family and 'addiction'.

Cant say it better than King Oni, nothing wrong with enjoying what to many is now considered an Art Form. Unless it's taking over your life in a negitive way I dont see it as an issue.

    ADHD with Aspie..Not Happening.

I can only speak for the telephone bit from expierience. I've had many family arguments around not calling and truely I do not understand the need to do it unless there is something to discuss. It is just an inconvience and annoyance for me to call people about essentially nothing and in the...

Sensitive Topic A* grade pupil hanged herself after being diagnosed with mild autism

S That lack of support is here too, parents are given a diagnosis of ASD, handed a few leaflets and sent on their way. Its impossible to understand and I've heard the usual bull*%& spoken about kids who are asd.....genuis, won't talk, doest want friends...etc etc. That poor girl probably was as...

Since finding out you are an aspie, does this effect your stimming?

I used to do the leg bouncing but I stopped myself because it annoyed people. Not really sure its a stim as I see it quite a bit in public and at work but I have started doing it again at home after reading about it because I always enjoyed the sensation.

    How about a hug

O Only on AC would anyone ever say something that nice about me. Hugs for everyone.

    How about a hug

It strikes me that a lot of threads have people needing some support and a lot of people click friendly but it doesnt seem to quite fit for me, it would be nice if one the rating options along side "like" "agree" etc was "hug" or "gives support"

People with a disability should try harder!

...and again Harrision makes me feel really boring :p but I have to agree with what your saying, For me its not a disability just a different way of thinking and dealing with things but everything is relative so for others I can totally understand that it actaully is a disability. I'm happy in...
