Anyone have experience with Auditory Integration therapy (ex. ILS)?

Lol. I don't think it's meant to be pleasurable.

Anyone have experience with Auditory Integration therapy (ex. ILS)?

I've been learning about Auditory Integration therapy and would like to hear from anyone, particularly adults who have been through it. It's pricey, about $200 for the equipment plus some occupational therapist time (I'm not sure yet if it will be covered by insurance), so it's important to me...

new relationship and ghosts of anxieties past

Thanks for taking the time to reply in such an in-depth way. It's good that there is a list of things that you like/do benefit you about him and the relationship. I understand now why you didn't include that list in your initial post. In talking with others sometimes the list isn't forthcoming...

    Therapist Recommendations: Portland, Oregon, USA

Well, hopefully someone will be able to suggest a therapist nonetheless. In my experience, unless the therapist is familiar with autism they can't even understand what's going on much less be helpful.

    Therapist Recommendations: Portland, Oregon, USA

Does anyone know of a good therapist or therapy practice in Portland, Oregon or around it (SW - Tigard, Tualatin, Beaverton) with a focus on adult autism (possibly also ADHD)? CBT or similar, in terms of the kind of therapy, would be good. I'm finding a lot of resources for children who are...

new relationship and ghosts of anxieties past

You detailed the situation but my thought when reading what you'd wrote is that there was little to indicate what you get out of the relationship. As Marie Kondo would say (yes, very cheesy) does your relationship with this man spark joy? It was noteworthy to me that you mentioned that he comes...

    Dating Corner

There are five AS folks in my life, each as to be expected quite different. It's helped me to learn more about AS. I am trying to keep a balance in my head between stuff that says broadly "Aspies do this or that"and tends towards grouping and the diversity I see even anobalancbet Yes, I agree...

I actually wasn't making a critical comment about the site. It was a positive one. I was saying that it is convenient to speak about Aspies as a group (that is the conceit I was referring to) and then noting what you said that of course, the people here (and in any group of people under the...

Is there an "ASD culture" If not, should there be?

Supposedly there are relatively large number of AS people in tech hubs, such as in and around Silicon Valley, the Silicon Forest in Portland, OR, Austin, TX, Boston, etc.

Challenges in ASD/NT relationships from Aspie POV

I think she said she has ADHD so not NT (I do as well) which is maybe why the scheduling of the fitness doesn't come so naturally.

    Alternative relationship styles

I think it depends -- on the stage of life, gender and whether someone has been married before. I don't think it's uncommon, for example for straight women over 40 who've been married before to value having their own space and not have the responsibility of caring for someone else's needs all of...

Saddened by a website I was reading

I agree with you about painting whole categories of people or more to the point individuals with differing traits and personalities with the same broad brush. My experience is like the one WittyAspie described but from the non-AS perspective. Asking alone doesn't do the trick, not about stuff...

Saddened by a website I was reading

Hmm, as someone who is not NT (I have ADHD) but have been in relationships with Aspies - including my current partner, I do assume that I'm required to do some work. I actually think that I do a lot to appreciate and accommodate an AS partner. Where it can be really difficult for a non-AS...

Saddened by a website I was reading

I don't understand the revenge website angle but I do understand why someone would stay. Sometimes the issues that are a problem for the non-AS partner come to matter later on in the relationship when a lot has already been invested (children, joint property, shared family responsibilities)...
