    Question About the Term Neurotypical

Hmm, I would suggest the term chemotypical for people who are not mentally ill but who are also not ASD. That term would not be completely perfect though, since neurobiological conditions of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder have wiring differences, not just neurotransmitter chemical...

    I had my assessment today!

It is not that surprising. The DSM is just a guide book. The ICD's most up to date coding still has it. http://www.icd10data.com/ICD10CM/Codes/F01-F99/F80-F89/F84-/F84.5

    Autigender, Gay and proud

For the vast majority, that is true. But science has illuminated MANY genetic conditions that have people be not completely male or female or heterosexual. We are also now learning more about brain differences that affect orientation. Furthermore - and this is really interesting - there are...

    Self-Fullfilling Prophecy

Ah, yes. I do think that we "pull back." It does not help that we continue to be defined by the neurotypical's experience of us. We don't define deafness as antisocial, but we take on that label even though our reasons for communication mismatches with NTs is far more analogous to a sensory...

I agree. I had not checked on this forum for a while but came on here, found this thread and found a satisfying commiseration.

What would you feed someone from AC?

Ask what they like. Add in something that shares the local foodie culture as someone noted. But also suggest they are free to also bring food while noting there will be plenty and they have no obligation to bring food. (I always bring my certain foods when I go visit people, to be honest. I...

    What are you doing now?

I am sitting in salon with color on my hair, noticing how many people are talking, talking, talking, talking...walking, walking, walking (= cuh-click, cuh-click, cuh-click). And I have a headache. Temperature in here is good though. And music not loud this time. All in all, an average salon...

    ARE ASPIES SENTIMENTAL?

I am sure I have never appeared sentimental by outward expression. However, I have felt sentimental and been able to rapidly write long letters or make a set of photos (and occasionally art) when feeling that way and had people respond with "wow!" Etc. So, I know I can translate those feelings...
