My Experience at School of Social Work UIUC

Blog details

I was a former student at University of Illinois, School of Social Work with a disability called Landau-Kleffner; that is on the spectrum. I disclosed my disability by writing about it for my admission paper, so they knew ahead of time.

I finished two semester at the program, but left on my terms because I was targeted, harassed, bullied, and picked on by the instructors. There were two instructors who would state, "What do you think he has?" ( two separate classes) So, I put 2 to 2 together and believe between classes they would talk about me. The question I have is, how do they not know I have a disability when I DISCLOSED it in my admission paper?

The funny thing is I started to feel stressed out because the instructors would continuous harass me in class.( one African American female professor called me a N).So, I decided to attend a counseling session at the university's counseling center) While I was waiting for my appointment (for about 25 minutes) I notice the students who came in after me went before me. (So I started to believe the School of Social Work got a call or text about one of their students just made an appointment at the counseling center). They probably were trying to figure out which counselor I should see. Furthermore, I finally got my counselor. I went in there and told them about my childhood trauma and my disability. I felt way better discussing that for sure.

However, the next day in class one of the instructors looked up at the ceiling and yelled, "I want kids and a family." (While she smirked and mocked me) She was mocking me because that was one of the statements I said in my counseling session with my counselor.

Part 2 will come soon.
