An Onanists Lament

I sing a song of do as you please,
And how it brought our world to it's knee's.
We relinquished regulation,
Turned oversight to masturbation.
It worked wonders for the shares,
Justified by doctrinaires.
We vote them in to make things right,
And once again they show their spite.
And every time we'll do it again,
Singing hope in our refrain.
But now a sadness lies abroad,
We're all victims of our own fraud.
When apathy does reign supreme,
Then rises up the fascist machine.
When hope does seem so far away,
The greatest lies will make headway.
Thus darkness spreads the land once more,
While greedy people act the whore.
And others pay the foulest price,
Just for their fool's paradise.
This time though will be the last,
We now approach that endless fast.
We failed the world and our offspring,
Like idiots, we ate the whole thing!

[Onanist replaced the original "W" word in the title to maintain site standards. Not my first choice, but the obvious one had too many syllables! ;)]
