San Diego Comic-Con

I think the San Diego Comic-Con starts today. Anyone here ever been to it? I'm not sure if I would want to go; I'm sure there are plenty of cool things to see there, but I think it would just be...overload for me. That, and you have to get your pass and hotel room way in advance and it all seems like a huge pain to make all of the necessary arrangements to go to it, so I'm probably not going anytime soon.

I remember Mark Evanier recommending a smaller con in San Francisco called Wonder Con for people who are mainly interested in comics and not so much the movie and video game stuff at SDCC (His response to people who complain about how big and crazy SDCC is was basically "Well, there are lots of other cons out there that may be more your speed"). I've only been to one real con; it was in Austin a couple of years ago and it probably would have fit into a tiny corner of the place where SDCC is held. The biggest guest there was Stan Sakai, creator of the series Usagi Yojimbo (he's a great guy, go say hi to him if you're ever at a con where he's a guest).

My mom knows someone from work who's going to SDCC who said that he would bring me some kind of SDCC goodies, so I'm looking forward to that.
