Dinosaurs!!!

So I got to viset the palientology collection at the local museum yesturday. Most of their focus was on ice age mamals, but they did have some cool dinosur fossils that I got to hold.
  • A fairly complete dromosaur skull
  • A centrosuar horn (man was it heavy!)
  • Ankylosaur osteoderms
  • Pachycephalosaur skull fragments
  • A hadrosaur skin impression
Other specemins were too large to handel, like the Albertasaurus skull.

They also had a fairly extensive collection of mammoth and mastadon fossils, as well as a full Asian elephant skeleton for comparative analysis. Some of the tusks and large bones (like femurs) were truly massive and impressive to behold.

Other ice age fauna were represented as well, such as; megatherium, glyptodon, wooly rhino, giant beavers and several sabretoothed cats. Equine and bison fossils were especially plentifull providing with drawers full of horse teeth and boxes brimming with bones.

I plan on volunteering some of my time to help with catalogueing their collection. It will be mostly cenozoic samples though, so probably no dinosaurs.
