I am addicted to screens and radios. I can hide from my thoughts and anxiety and tinnitus. But it has it's cost in overstimulation and burn out.

That's why it's part of my old bad habits. I have one or two of those things going to distract me. Though it was more about escaping reality, than just simply avoiding my thoughts alone.

If I do it now. I tend to fall into old bad habits because of it. I mentally link doing that with my misery cycle. It's an attitude that needs to be broken.

IMO, if you understand the cause of your screen addiction, you'll be able to break it more easily. Are you using them to self-regulate? Manage sensory overload? Etc.

For example, I was glued to the screen outside the house. I know now that's due to sensory overload. I reduce outings, wear sunglasses, take a fidget toy, and if appropriate, take a blanket. And that gives me "space" to be more engaged with the world.

The cause is childhood trama related. I actually made a thread on it not too long ago.
