Under people's posts it often says thinks like : agree, like, list, and some other words. I understand all but one of them. What does 'list' mean?

Hi. You made a post about sensory problems. I'm not interested in the paranormal....etc that people are listing but how familiar are you with the term 'autistic shutdown' and does it sound like it might apply. Does it happen when you are overstimulated and have been around noise, being...

Anyone Else Forgetful When It Comes To Names?

I hate trying to remember names. I am even worse with faces and think I am at least mild/moderate face blind. I see faces but people look identical to me even if they look different to other people. I uses people's voices and confirm them with faces to know who they are unless I know them...

Emotion and logic: are they more than normally separated in us compared to NTs?

I am more analytical of feelings and more selective on who I want to share them with. I think in a way they are more separate for us than for NTs.

What's your experience of "small talk"

I am more analytical on emotions and in ways don't like to share them with everyone. Some emotions are more in depth and not surface. One good thing about small talk is that you can get people to talk about themselves. Then I don't have to worry about what to say or not, I just let them talk...

    Making Connections

Here is my opinion. I focus on details a lot. So there are times I have taken a detail of what someone is talking about and connect it to a detail of another topic. So to me, the two topics match perfectly because the details do. But since the main ideas of both topics don't go together...

Does anybody else absolutely hate the term "aspie(s)"

I can take it or leave it. I won't go so far as to say I really like it but at the same time it doesn't matter if I do or not. It exists. The bad thing is that you can't have it as an 'ic', like autistic, diabetic, etc. The good thing is that it is only ours and no one else's. It is only...

    Sensory things that are irritating

I am ok with children's voices but hate strangers and even some people I know touching me. I hate loose clothes and prefer tight things. Tags are annoying. And I agree with you on socks and slippers with those seems that you can feel. I wear mine inside out.

    Is this obsessive/repetitive behaviour?

I do it with books and authors. Whether it is an obsessive/repetitive thing doesn't matter in a way. I mean it is nice to know and I find it helpful to know if things are related to my AS but at the same time since it isn't hurting anyone, then it doesn't matter.

Couple is arrested after autistic girl, 10, is found locked inside a wooden CAGE...

Not locked is the major difference, along with not smelling or kept clean. Maybe it was a version of a 'squeeze box'.

    Sensory things that are irritating

Fingernails on black board is a pretty common thing to have a hard time with. Good thing that doesn't happen with white boards.

Couple is arrested after autistic girl, 10, is found locked inside a wooden CAGE...

If they have been using it for 3-4 years, and still need it, doesn't that show it doesn't work and they need to try something else if they want to teach appropriate behaviors? And it shows it is wrong if it smells that way. Wrong for any child, autistic or not.

View thread? or view post from using the title?

Not sure how to phrase my question. When I get a message in my inbox from WP with a list of posts I can either do 'view thread' or click on the title of the post. Is there a difference? I seem to get to the same place no matter which I do.

    Sensory things that are irritating

I turn my socks inside out too. Some washing machines and some lights have sounds I can't stand. Lights hum and that is annoying. And some washing machines have this noise I can't describe. It's true the washing machine gives me a headache at times but it isn't really a physical thing as...
