    Artificial light sickness

    My comfort with light varies greatly by type of source, CRI spectrum, temperature, and intensity. The worst, by far are bluish/stark white fluorescent or LED lights. Incandescent lights are best, with ~92 CRI, 2700K, and low output. My ideal light would be entirely candle/lantern light.

    The drive home was surprisingly good...the first 100km I had to dodge some 30cm-40cm deep drifts creeping across the right lanes, but otherwise the roads were mostly clear and dry, so it was a unexpectedly fast drive back...got in at 2pm, which was good, as we had to be at a pub to host a munch...

    Be glad that you were not in Saskatoon...we woke up Sunday to 3 feet of snow...absolutely crippled everything....had to wait 24 hours before driving home.

    So, about we had a ~8 day spate of bitter cold that ended about 9 days ago, and now we are back to sunny days with highs of 12°C/54°F to 14°C/57.5°F....very strange for late January here.

    Hot drinks poll!

    Coffee throughout my day (usually 2 presses), then often tea in the evening, with an espresso after dinner. I also enjoy hot rum toddies, Irish coffee, hot cider, and the occasional hot chocolate.

    I prefer charcoal, but propane and natural gas (common in Canada) are easier, so I have a small charcoal grill, and a really big, high btu-output stainless steel propane/NG grill.

    I know that I am quite uncomfortable at any temperature over 24°C/75°F...also, I don't much enjoy temperatures below -8°C/18°F.

    Bold of you to assume that we did. Actually, awfully warm clothing and going outside as little as humanly possible...the cold is quite survivable, but miserable.

    My electric scooters =)

    In Canada, to be legal, electric scooters must be limited to 32kph, but there are a lot around that can manage up to 75+ kph...based on what most people wear when on those scooters, I can only imagine the carnage resulting from wiping out at high speeds on one of those.

    4 days in a row at -40°C/-40°F with wind chills at -55°C/-67°F, and now sitting at -22°C/-8°F and a wind chill of -28°C/-18°F for the past 3 days, I have little sympathy for most of you.
