My Aversion to Partying at College, and Why I'm Beginning to Doubt Myself

It's pretty bad when your best experiences in life involve losing your good judgement and hanging out with people that wouldn't converse or sleep with you so freely if they weren't impaired with alcohol themselves. Not to mention all the nasty diseases you could accrue. College is for academics...

    Plant Lovers? Gardeners?

You certainly have had some great jobs! It's wonderful you've found a good way to keep gardening, it looks beautiful.I have an interest in Ethnobotany, as well. I haven't really gardened much, aside from a run of the mill vegetable garden, but I usually like to run around outside with an...

    Do you find cities overwhelming?

I certainly find big cities overwhelming. I live in a very sparsely populated area, so going from a peaceful, quiet place like my home to a loud, smelly, and crowded city is always a bit challenging.

How-to site for Aspies wanting to live independently?

As someone who is trying to get ready to move out of my parents house, I would find such a resource very helpful! Like wyverary, I find the idea very frightening, and reading advice from others who have gone before very comforting.

    Dolls obsession

I think ball jointed dolls are so beautiful, I would love to have one but they are rather pricey. I really enjoy reading tutorials by people who sculpt dolls out of polymer clay then cast them in resin by hand, it's so interesting. Thank you for sharing the lovely picture!

    Living Well on the Spectrum

I hope you'll enjoy it! I think it's a really nice book, it's very easy to read and I love how it emphasizes aspie weaknesses are often just the flip side of aspie strengths. It's very positive and encouraging!

Living Well on the Spectrum 2014-10-21

Navigating the "neurotypical" world with Asperger syndrome or high-functioning autism (AS/HFA) can be extremely stressful. But by understanding the specific ways your brain works differently--and how to tap into your personal strengths--you can greatly enhance your well-being. In this wise and...

    Socially Awkward Experiences...

I know how you feel. I usually don't know what to do with myself in public and whenever I have to speak my heart jumps out of my chest. What Peace was saying about acceptance is very true, life is a lot easier when you work with and understand your natural tendencies. You can accept that maybe...

Social Anxiety - Online as well?

I finally got up the nerve to join and post here a few months ago. I take a long time to post because I always have to think very carefully about what I say and how it may come across, too, so i understand how you feel! It gets easier with practice, it seems.

    Do you forgive easily?

I forgive people fairly easily, but I never forget. Once they do something, I always keep in mind that they may do it again, and while I try to be kind, I treat them accordingly. It really depends on the magnitude of the offense, though, honest slip ups are quite different from something more...

    Do you scare easily?

Loud noises or unexpected touches make me jump like a loony, I have always had an exaggerated startle response! I'm not afraid of dead things or insects, but I really hate scary movies. They are just too much. I don't like things flying near my face, either, I just don't like the unexpected...
