    Do You Talk to Yourself?

I do the same thing, exactly as you have described it. I tell myself that people must think I'm singing to a song on the radio. Of course, this only works when the windows are rolled up and they can't hear you! ;-)

    Do You Talk to Yourself?

Yes I often do, especially when I am driving my car, or thinking about something that concerns me. Of course, I only do it when I think no one else is listening...but I have been caught at it, which is quite embarrassing to me. And I mean extensive one-sided conversations, where I am either...

    Reeling a little here . . .

I would bet you are already a good mother. Don't be too upset about your score; if you've reached your thirties and formed close relationships and achieved other markers of adulthood, it sounds as if you are doing just fine. I'm 55 and have managed all that in spite of challenges. I'm even...

    Ahoy :)

I know what you mean about dealing with Asperger's as an adult. There's just not of resources out there in the traditional medical/psychological community; it's largely geared toward children and teens. But you sound pretty happy and well-adjusted, so good for you, and best wishes! Mamajulia

    Hello Everyone!!

I think lots of us have learned to adapt a public persona, almost as though we are acting a part. That's okay, it helps to be able to function in the NT world. Let's face it, most of us have to work for a living, and we're going to have to deal with social sitations now and then. So, kudos to...

Hi! Kinda new to Aspergers and this site too

Hi! Ha, I like your quote about not being a fairy or pixie with Asperger's. Yes, the psychological community is taking a closer look at we females, and that's all to the good. Best wishes in your research! Mamajulia

    Hi! New to Aspies Central

Hi! My psychiatrist came close to giving me a diagnosis of Asperger's but stopped short because my "empathy" traits were too neurotypical. That's okay, I'm still pretty sure I am. For example, certain tones of voice and enunciation irritate the CRAP out of me. I often find myself rocking and...

wondering how autistic i am, do any of you do/have these things?

I agree with the other two posters, especially sensitivies to sounds and textures. It's nice to hear that you and your girlfriend aren't bothered by these traits, but rather embrace and enjoy them.

    New kid in town

Good morning, all, And happy Friday, too! I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I am a 54-year-old woman, and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a little over two years ago. I came very close to having a dual diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome. I found this a little shocking...

Useful Aspergers Syndrome / Autism Links, Articles and Resources

The only thing that kept my psychiatrist from giving me a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome was that I scored too high on "empathy". I understand that there is some evidence, however, that female Aspies are better at reading social cues and at interacting with others.
