    Carrie Pilby movie autism??

has anyone watched the movie Carrie Pilby? It's new on Netflix and it's about a 19 year old genius trying to find her way in the world. I feel that she is so similar to me but just says everything out loud that I would normally think because she just doesn't give a sh*t and she's smarter than I...

Where should I get my tattoo?

I just thought it would be fun to poll this. No lectures on tattoos because it's not my first, it's my 6th. I currently have them placed on my left shoulder (medium), right ribs (small) right inner ankle/foot (small), left outer foot (tiny), and tight side wrist. I'm getting a small single...

My boyfriend doesn't believe my diagnosis .... long story

So my search for a diagnosis started almost 3 years ago. When a friend, someone who knew me quite well, who had a PHD in psychology, on the spectrum themselves, and specializing in better ways to effectively diagnose conditions, said straight up she thought I was on the spectrum. So my start to...

What do you think about functioning labels?

Well people who are language impaired aren't necessarily cognitively impaired, that's why they're separate categories. plus a lot of people are selectively mute. So nobody has addressed what about other options. Like, some people don't want a label, but you already have one, autistic, so I mean...

What do you think about functioning labels?

I agree with that too, that's why I said there are good and bad things about it. But I feel like the difference who can do that as "pass" and who can't. Not that that's a good or bad thing, but that's kind of how I view it. Some people, no matter how hard they tried, could not "pass" as NT...

What do you think about functioning labels?

I definitely agree with that, but i feel like we need more terms not no terms. Idk I like to identify as something specific.

Not sure what to do now

I am recently diagnosed (23 years old) and also have excelled in sales, only professional job I've had. I think I excel for the same reasons, and another thing is many salespeople sell with emotion where I sell with logic and it's much harder to argue with logic.

What do you think about functioning labels?

So I identify as autistic but I also consider myself very high functioning. There are both good and bad things that come with that. But it seems that many people are very against functioning labels. I heard someone say that nobody is less autistic or more autistic or higher functioning or lower...

What's the earliest sign you showed of autism?

As an infant I screamed and cried if anyone but my parents tried to hold me. I also hated all "itchy fabrics" which included many things everyone else thought was soft, to the point that I would only wear a particular shirt that my mom had gotten in every color and pattern there was and then cut...

    How do NT's hear?

So I've been processing a lot since being diagnosed, researching, watching videos, etc. And i'm trying to figure out what is a shutdown and meltdown and just like what those feel like in me. I've been looking at these simulators about what sensory overload is like or what autistic people hear...
