    People in denial of autism.

I don't tell people about my diagnosis for that very reason. Because the comments that follow are:- 'but you don't look like you have aspergers' (as if we are all identical?) 'I don't believe autism is real, it's just a different personality trait' 'but you're not a genius?' (stereotype upon...

I'm Sam, and I'm sick and tired of not connecting with people

Hey Sam Can totally relate to you. I also work in an office and feel a bit isolated sometimes, have always found it hard to make friends. I also 'pretend', which is draining right? I think they all think of me as 'quirky' rather than knowing I'm on the spectrum. Hang in there, I know it's not...

Do you travel well or have travel anxiety?

I really relate to this. I have always been stressed about being on public transport. I think it's the feeling of being trapped. I do not mind cars so much but trains, buses and planes cause me massive anxiety. I still do travel by public transport, but I've experienced panic attacks many...

    Good Instrumental music?

I really like Bonobos albums, also 'Smokers Delight' by nightmares on wax is a personal favourite.

Very happy with the Aspie I'm dating + some questions :)

Hey there, I would advise maybe introducing him to one person at a time, rather than a group setting perhaps. In my experience, I always find one on one interactions less intimidating than groups. I think meeting the parents is a little nerve wracking for anyone, but I am sure it will all be fine

    Light Sensitivity

I wear sunglasses 85 percent of the time that I'm outside, it really helps me (although does get some odd looks if I'm wearing them wgen there is no sun ) For me bright white cloudy days are worse than sunny days even.

Aspie women that prefer the company of men?

Hey everyone, hope you're well. I just am wondering if this is an Aspie thing or just me. My whole life I have always felt more relaxed and less anxiousthe company of men The number of male friends I have/had really outweighs the female ones. It's not that I don't get on with women, I yearn...

What do you like about your autism?

I like that is has given me a fantastic memory. I also like how it has made me different. This used to be a major negative, but I've chosen to stop fighting my aspergers and now see this as a positive

Could I ask a question about masking?

Masking for me has become a second nature, but it is exhausting. For me it means making eye contact, smiling and appearing confident and bubbly, covering my weird little quips (although they do come out anyway) No one believes that I have aspergers, because of the way i conduct myself but what...

Do Your Sensory Sensitivities Ever Prevent You Doing Things?

I wouldn't say they prevent me from doing things anymore. These days I still find certain things uncomfortable but i push myself to do them and get through it. The worst things for me are supermarkets and airports , the noise, brightness and the business has almost led to a panic attack on many...
