Does anyone here have family members who also have aspergers, as well as themselves

Re: Does anyone here have family members who also have aspergers, as well as themselv Hello, my son (clone?) and I have a formal diagnosis. I strongly suspect my late father and grandfather (paternal) "had it." One of my three siblings likely has it.

The Figure of Speech That You Dislike The Most

These might already be noted, but I'm sick of the "tough" phrases like the "suck it up" mentioned above: "man up" "no excuses" "Do Your Job!" and the like. Yeah, no one ever says no excuses to him'herself when they need something--no just say to someone in bad spot (someone you don't like or...

Just some thoughts on animals, us, and NT's

I don't know if we can generalize about the chatterbox thing. A lot of that "copious sharing . . .only tangentially related" is just what many AS people, including myself have to watch out for. Super Bowl

As a kid, if I worked endlesly, and I devoted my entire life to playing a sport, I could achieve mediocrity. But I found no joy in it. Just wished it would be over so I stop being bored --bothered by jocks (is this word still used?). At age ten I focused on baseball for a summer, and learned...

What was the last movie you watched?

My daughter (age 10) and I watched Moonrise Kingdom (on TV); I don't think it really worked. Parts of it were good. Liked the music (Britten) and it looked interesting. The kids (characters) were a bit messed up, but not my kind of messed up. Still, I was able to sit through it.

    Sensitive Topic aspergers backlash?

I'm a teacher--and I'm getting a bit sick of the ignorance. With the kids it's understandable, but adults, educators (!), who think AS/ Aut. need to kept an eye on --or blamed: if we could just keep those people away from guns . . . I haven't told any one about my condition (if they think...

    Recently Unemployed and Frustrated

I've been teaching high school for 15 years, and everyday seems like my first day. I wasn't diagnosed until about four years ago (although I my special ed records from the mid 1970s clearly indicated what would NOW be called autism). I've done well because the kids find my mannerisms amusing (...
