If you could design a training

Yes, I'm on the spectrum. I've found myself in the interesting but unfortunate position of being the poster child for ASDs at my University...only to find most of the people I advocate for are nothing like me.

If you could design a training

I'm a student and teacher at a university that is creating a sensitivity training specifically for educating people on how to be good allies to the disabled community. Neurodiversity is supposed to be lumped into this training. I am on the committee creating it. What resources in terms of books...

Is forgetting a lot an Aspie trait?

I believe consensus among the scientific community is that because of stress/ sensory processing issues working memory is limited...more appropriately OVERTAXED, in people on the spectrum. I also have a very rigorous reminder system for that reason.

    What is your dream job?

A well funded neuroscience researcher with time for travel. I'm hoping that's not pie in the sky because I'm halfway to being a Doctor of Neuroscience.

The last thing that made you laugh

Someone's boxer dog was resting its chin on the open window of a car at a stop light. He looked so sad and pitiful, and every time I would talk to him he would smile, but then his funny little jowels would fall back onto the window ledge and he would just give me this pleading looks for more...

The last thing that made you laugh

My cell phone auto corrected thanks to thanksgiving. And I sent it by accident. It wasn't that funny but I snorted once I saw it.

What song are you listening to right now?

I'm not listening to anything right now, but I wanted to share how great the "Bauhaus" artist radio is on spotify. I was screaming "ahhomgilovethissong!!!" to myself every time the next song came on.

    Temperature sensitivity

I think concept/response to temperature is frequently affected...I am extremely good at switching into automaton mode when faced with uncomfortable temperatures. It scares people ocasionally...but it's not that I can't feel anything, I can just switch off my "care" button. Lol I've even read...

    Over-talking?

I was just thinking today how I have tried to get around the whole too quiet thing by just saying stuff that jumps to mind. I only use it on acquaintances because I never know what to say anyway and just don't want to come across mean. It's normally trivial like "oh, the weather today" or "just...

The last thing that made you laugh

That must have been a once in a lifetime experience. I am going to have to invest in an audio book to teach myself eventually. German is a useful language, and it's mingled into the native languages of several countries that are big in my research field. It would be nice to know it well enough...

What was the last movie you watched?

John Wick. I am not usually impressed with movies where people are being shot or beaten lifeless every 20 seconds, but this was quite amazing. I actually cared about the characters all the way to the end.
