    Fear of water

I always take baths. I hate the feel of water spraying on me because it isn't a full submersion and it makes my skin crawl because I don't have full submersion of all my skin. It is definitely a sensory issue. I also cannot stand having water drip down my arms after washing hands or doing...

I was cut off by another car, thus the horn...

I understand the use of the horn. If nothing else than to alert the other driver of his poor driving. that said, you are always risking a possible bad situation these days just calling attention to yourself. People are crazy out there.

Hi people, it's my introduction time, I think.

Andrew not funny. Welcome to the group. I understand the overshare or over explain issues you mention. This group is a good place to just read about things other ASD people experience. It is helpful to know that you aren't the only person feeling the way you do. Also, instead of being...

    Some actual progress lately

The eye thing you describe sounds like an optical migraine. I get them too, and of course went to Doctor about it to find that is what it is. Sometimes it looks like a wavy shattered glass across my vision.

    Do you think in pictures?

I do the exact same thing.

    Do you think in pictures?

I have heard of this where you are on a topic and one word leads to another train of thought to another. I think that is called "Clanging" I have a friend who thinks this way and he gets really out there in a conversation. But, once I understood his thinking patterns it was a lot easier to...

    Manners CAN cost!

People can be such asses. If you purchased the oreos what is the issue with you wandering around eating them? Was there a no food allowed sign?

    Manners CAN cost!

I personally rely on eyebrows for facial expressions and gauging what "I think people are expressing" People without eyebrows are difficult to read in my humble opinion.

Do you know the name for this? Or do you do this too?

I do this with a single words, I will repeat them in my head over and over again. I can't seem to stop myself. I think it is a form of stimming, as it gives me focus and comfort. Ettiger and Kaprinech were two of my favorites. I don't know where they came from, must have heard them...

Giving Up On Making Real Life Friends?

I have given up trying to make friends. I used to jump through hoops for people, cooking treats, dinners or helping them with pretty much anything I was capable of doing just to be accepted. After years of this I no longer am able to perform favors for them because I am too old. Sure enough...

    Manners CAN cost!

You have great eyebrows and nice hair. You aren't ugly to me. But, I understand where you are coming from. I feel ugly now, that I am old and grey. I am so non descript that I don't think anyone even notices my existence anymore.

    Manners CAN cost!

Levitator, you are so right on, how people play up to those that have sway in their lives and the rest of the population is treated like dirt.

    Alone again at Christmas

I am carrying on trying to keep in contact with them but, since I am not around it is months before they respond. Most have moved on to other friends.

    Alone again at Christmas

Pretty much 2 years now. Had to move away from the few friends I had. Once you are no longer in the area, long distance seems to stop the friendships.

    Alone again at Christmas

Thank you, it is reassuring that others experience these same feelings. Although I don't relish the idea that there are humans out there that suffer this, it is reassuring that I am not the only one who sees things so differently. It is so isolating to think I am the only one with all of these...
