Why does everyone think i’m a troll or not being serious?

I think when some of us have experienced significant bullying it is difficult, if not impossible, to turn off that internal warning system that picks up on perhaps just a few cues and puts us into "I am in danger" mode. In "I am in danger" mode most rational input doesn't matter. Like if your...

Dealing with bosses you don't understand

There are a lot of executive level people with no or little practical experience who surround themselves with people who are more experienced and competent and build their business in that manner. The worker is a tool they buy to achieve their own success. You, as a tool, simply need to do as...

Dealing with bosses you don't understand

I'm not sure if you've tried this but money people are motivated to make more money and don't really care about the details if they don't have to. So if you ask in a very concrete way that means he can make more money it could work. Like, "Is there a reference I can use to understand this...

Blankies and stuffed animals, childhood and beyond

My family had to take away my blankie. I don't know if I was a baby when I got it, but I had it probably until 4 our 5. It was so torn up from you'd think it had been caught in a wood chipper. A soft doll, the same (I was given both many years later in my teens, still have them safely in a big...

When it comes to having friends, would you prefer not having or having friends and why?

I like friends who understand I come and go. I'm glad to have several of these. Some are from childhood who just know how I am and know I'm just different but they still like and even love me. That's very nice. A very very few internet people who also are fine with me coming and going. I don't...

Is it wrong for me to say that your mother sounds wretched?

    More sensitive to noise

Hair dryers Blenders/food processors Vacuums I get real unease, even a strange fearful feeling that I know makes no sense. I feel most sensitive when I'm alone (?). I've gotten to tolerate them mostly but at home I have a set of industrial headphones that I wear when I use my bullet blender. It...

    Does Anyone Know Why?

So agree, and also heteronormative culture dictates it would be imply "gayness" for a straight man to talk about objects as male. That's reserved for their penises.

Parents did or didn't praise you???

I will say that with a romantic partner all of this changes. I'm awful and need reassurance all the time. This has drawn in some really unhealthy partners. I am lucky to say I'm with a man now I'm feeling more secure with than I've felt capable of with others. It's a different experience.

Discrimination at School of Social Work UIUC

If you have a diagnosis you can approach the disability center on campus. I highly recommend a therapist for navigating these experiences. I sometimes have feelings of persecution and have confusion about that being reality or paranoia, it's awful. A good friend/ex had a more intense response to...

Favourite TV Show or Shows and Film or Films

I LOVE horror particularly 60s/70s/80s. Not a slasher fan (Friday the 13th etc); I like serious, thoughtful films, super dark films, or comical (or comically bad). Those two films, also: Rosemary's Baby The Exorcist The Wicker Man The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original only!) BurntOfferings The...

Parents did or didn't praise you???

This is interesting. My parents were generally neutral about me on the whole regardless of what I did. I didn't get into trouble (what's the point?) and my grades were reasonable (did what I was capable of). I've always been very good at arts and I've always had positive attention for that, from...
