What Were Your Past Obsessions?

I was really obsessed with Napoleon's Grande Armee for many years. When I finally got to visit the Musee De Armee in Paris I had to sit on the outer steps for a while to calm myself, I was actually shaking with excitement.

*rain puddles & wet clothes (nightmare for parents after a rainy day at the end of the school)
*video game bugs & glitches (this is more recent)
*trading cards
*car dashboards, and write down the max displayable speed, also interested in car sound systems
*scanning channels on TV & find hidden pages in teletext
*action figures (used to play 4hr+ a day when I was 13 or 14)
*calculators (strangely I still dream having a multifunction one, with 12 digits and has clock and thermometer functions, maybe if I buy one something will happen)
*talking watches (because they can display 24 hour format, has crisp display and they were cheap. Not for the talking functions, never owned one unfortunately)
*put electronic apparels in water, and see how much time it survives when immerged (cannot count how much I was scold for that when I was a child)

Here's mine in order:

Barbie
Spice Girls
S Club 7
Basil Brush (cringe)
High School Musical (double cringe)
Twilight
and now Glee :D

Nowt wrong with Basil Brush! Ha ha ha! Boom Boom!

And 20 years ago I was in love with Emma Bunton from the Spice Girls, and I still would.

Madotsuki you reminded me of one of mine, finding channels on satellite set top boxes. I used to know just how exactly to tweak the parameters on the automatic channel search to find every available channel on that particular satellite. Imagine my joy when a family member got a 1 metre, motorised dish and they asked me to tune it for them. The bad thing though is weeding out all the porn channels afterwards, as on some boxes to delete channels you can only do so from the actual channel itself. I also used to be able to find hidden channels on a sky box, that are not in the sky channel list.

Vehicles that go fast. It did not take long to figure out that does not work on the streets. So I switched to off-road. Dirt bikes and snowmobiles. I still have the need for speed, but old age and my wife put a stop to that. These days the only thing fast that I drive is a golf ball. The only toys that I have are my sticks and a bunch of old guns.

Some past obsessions I've had are:
Digimon. When I was little, I would watch digimon very morning. I even made my own book of digimon, and a few stories focusing around the 1 generation of digi-destined.
Pokémon. I'm still very into pokemon, but when I was growing up I loved watching the anime and playing the games. I wrote several stories that focused around the teams I had in-game. I have quite a few pokemon plushes. I am looking forward to the new games coming out in November!
Anime. I was a big anime fan in middle and high school with Inuyasha, Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist being some of my favorites. I still watch anime.
Wolves. They are my favorite predator species.
Fire Emblem (Awakening and Fates).
Ecology and evolution. I'm majoring in this and love learning (in school and on my own) about this.

Woman singing while playing the harp.
Heard her live with Secret Garden, and totally fell in love with her voice:blush:

i still obsess over the same things i liked as a toddler/kid,like thomas the tank and computers [had my first proper computer...well a c64 at 5 years old] i think the only thing i dont obsess about now is drawing/painting/ graphics designing [not great at that] because of my depression which stopped all motivation and ability.

My first big obsession was 2000ad comic at about 8 until mid 20s I kept every one.

I found heavy metal followed by beer and then weed, then came rap music, dance music and ecstacy. All done to obsessive levels.

They all fell away eventually.

More recently I've had much more healthy obsession s like quantum physics , enlightenment, business startups and self improvement.

@Cheryl , I would think that a lioness' interest in horses would be different than a human's... :p

I was like 7 years old and one's personality can take a long time to grow into. At the time, as far as I knew, my personality was probably closer to a puppy's or kitten's. Besides, I don't like lions for their brutality; I like them more for their dignity, grace, and beauty.

When I was in primary school, it was archaeology. I wanted to know everything about it, and would watch Time Team religiously. I was a member of their young archaeologist club thing and would get a magazine every month. Lost interest in that after I started high school, but I'll still watch old Time Team episodes when they're on :D

From a really young age: Bugs. I'd spend most my free time looking for them. Everyone knew it so I got awesome bug stuff, including a bug vacuum thing, many keepers, educational bug computer games, and more. I still like bugs.
A little older: I still liked animals and bugs, but I got really sucked into videogames and virtual pet sites.
Teen: Oh no, I discovered anime. And Japanese related things
Now... after going vegan things seemed to take a nice turn, seems unrelated but it got me interested in real life again haha.
plants, learning about reptile keeping, growing my own food, Chihuahuas. Chihuahuas because I got one recently, she's my best buddy. I still like Japanese related things, I can't be specific because there's many.
