She excitedly climbed into the front seat, and her father started driving.
"How's school going?" he asked.
"Fine," Brooklyn responded. "We have a substitute math teacher this month. I still don't know whether or not I like her better."
"And how's Speech?"
"Okay, I guess." Brooklyn had mixed feelings about that. Sometimes it was okay, sometimes not. Two weeks ago had been particularly rough. She had been working on her posture lately. One day in Advisory Support, without even realizing it, she'd brought her feet off the floor and basically fallen against the other chair, taking up two desks. Her teacher simply took out her iPad and took a picture, greatly embarrassing Brooklyn. To make matters worse, she showed it to her Speech teacher, who teased her mercilessly. It was times like these that Brooklyn wished she was normal. Whatever that meant.
